Chapter 443 Chapter 444 As Charles led Naomi into the crowd, people immediately started to gather around them. "Mr. Logan, Ms. Yates, want to grab a drink?" someone called out. "Mr. Logan, your date is absolutely stunning. She looks like an angel come to earth," another person chimed "Ms. Yates, I heard you're really good at the piano," someone else said. "Ms. Yates, can I get you a drink?" another voice asked. "Mind if your girlfriend joins us for a drink, Mr. Logan?" someone asked. The crowd closed in around them, and all sorts of voices filled the air.
Charles kept a firm grip on Naomi's hand, not letting go for a second. He glanced around and chuckled, "Sorry, everyone, but my girlfriend's not feeling well today, so she can't drink." Without a second thought, he made it clear Naomi was his girlfriend, and the look in his eyes was pure adoration. Seeing how well Charles treated Naomi, everyone around couldn't help but feel a little jealous. "Mr. Logan, you're so good to your Mrs.," someone remarked. "Mr. Logan, you really know how to treat your girlfriend right," another person chimed in. "Ms.
Yates, you're so lucky to have a guy like him," someone else added. "If only I could be as lucky as Ms. Yates," another person sighed. The crowd gathered around Charles and Naomi, tossing out compliments and praise. Wendy stood behind Teresa's wheelchair, watching the crowd suck up to Charles. She couldn't help but mutter under her breath, "Scumbags and bimbos, just a bunch of brainless NPCs." Teresa heard Wendy's grumbling and let out a soft chuckle. "Wendy, it's fine. It's all over now. Just ignore them." But Wendy was still fuming. She clenched her fists, her voice brimming with anger.
"Teresa, I seriously want to beat them up and tear off their fake skins, so everyone can see what kind of people they really are." Teresa reached out and gently patted Wendy's hand resting on the back of the wheelchair. She smiled warmly and reassured her softly, "It's alright. Don't waste your energy on people who don't matter. They're just not worth it," Wendy finally smiled, saying, "You're right. People like that aren't worth getting worked up over, and you're already over it." Chapter 444 Teresa nodded. "Exactly. Let's go find a seat." The real banquet hadn't even started yet.
1455 vouchers Wendy pushed Teresa's wheelchair, turning their backs on the lively crowd and leaving them behind, Even though Charles was surrounded by people, his attention kept drifting toward Teresa, always watching her out of the corner of his eye. The moment Wendy wheeled Teresa away, the smile vanished from his face as he turned back to the crowd. Naomi caught the change in his mood and instinctively glanced at him, only to see him watching Teresa's retreating figure. Naomi had known for a long time that Teresa was always in Charles's heart. Maybe he didn't even realize it himself.

From Naomi's perspective, it was best if Charles never realized how he truly felt. After they entered the other hall, Wendy found a spot near the back for herself and Teresa. Everyone at tonight's banquet was a big name on the app-some had tens of millions of followers, some had a few million, and there were even a few up-and-coming creators mixed in. Wendy wasn't into the whole scene, so she stuck to the back with Teresa. Once everyone had pretty much arrived, the event officially kicked off.
The host warmed up the crowd, shared a bit about the app's journey, and gave shoutouts to some of the top creators. After that, it was time for all sorts of performances-every act was put on by creators from the app. There was singing, dancing, magic tricks, stand-up comedy, and more. In no time, the banquet hall was buzzing with energy, and the applause kept rolling in. Teresa wasn't really part of this world, but watching all these acts, it felt like she'd stumbled into a massive music festival-the place was buzzing.
One hit song after another blared from the speakers, and everyone in the crowd started singing along without even thinking about it. Teresa joined in, humming with the crowd, but when she glanced to her right, she suddenly noticed Charles, just a couple seats over. When she looked his way, Charles looked right back at her. Their eyes met for a moment, but unlike before, Teresa didn't get those butterflies in her stomach anymore. Now, when she saw him, she just felt completely calm inside-no more butterflies, no more racing heart. As she looked away, the music on stage suddenly stopped.
Right after, the host came back out to present awards to the standout video creators. And Wendy was up for one of the awards. When her name was called, Wendy gathered up her dress and stood up. She leaned in and whispered to Teresa, "Take care of yourself. I'll be right back." Teresa smiled softly at her. "Okay." More than twenty people took the stage. Each person was interviewed and introduced themselves one by one. Teresa was starting to zone out listening to all the introductions. Just then, Naomi spoke up beside him. "Charles, I'm heading up now.
I'll be playing piano when they hand out the awards." Charles nodded. "Okay, go on. Take care up there." Teresa was bored out of her mind listening to all those introductions, so she stood up, grabbed her cane, and excused herself to the people blocking her way. She kept apologizing as she squeezed past everyone on her way out. Once outside, Teresa went to the restroom. Before heading in, she set her cane against the wall by the door, leaving it in a spot that was easy to miss. When she stepped out, Teresa spotted her cane lying on the ground.
She tried to bend down and grab it, but with her injured leg, she had to lean on her good one for support. She gave it a couple tries, but just couldn't get a hold of it. Just as she was about to give up and stand back up, someone reached out and scooped up the cane for her. Teresa took the cane and slowly got back up, looking up at her helper. "Thank-" But before Teresa could even finish her sentence, she was so shocked she just froze, staring at the face in front of her, completely stunned. She stood there, her face going pale as she stared at Charles, dressed to the nines in his suit.
When she finally came to her senses, Teresa didn't want to say a single word. She just turned around, wanting nothing more than to get out of there. But just as Teresa was about to slip past Charles, he suddenly reached out and caught her by the arm. "What's the matter? Do I really look that terrifying to you? You really don't want to see me that much?" Teresa froze, her tone frosty as she snapped at Charles, "Why would I even want to look at you?" Charles still wouldn't let go of her arm.
He took his sweet time stepping in front of her, lowering his gaze as he murmured, "Is this what your life's turned into without me? What happened to that guy who was always hanging around you? Why isn't he here with you now?"
