Chapter 441 Chapter 442 By the time Teresa arrived at the Sullivan Mansion, it was almost lunchtime. The house was pretty quiet, with just a few servants in the kitchen, finishing up breakfast. She had just sat down on the couch when her phone started ringing. She glanced at the screen and saw it was Matthew Spencer, her boss, calling. She'd been out on leave for two months because of her injury, so she had no clue why he was calling now. As soon as she picked up, Matthew didn't bother hiding his irritation. "Teresa, you've been taking way too much time off lately.
Write up your resignation and don't bother showing up anymore." "Dr. Spencer, I-" Teresa started, her voice faltering. She opened her mouth to ask why, but Matthew cut her off before she could get a word out, his tone sharp. "There's nothing more to discuss. You're not cut out for this job. Why don't you just go get married and stop pretending you're meant for this?" With that, he hung up on her, no hesitation. Teresa sat on the couch, feeling like she'd turned to stone, the busy signal droning in her ear.
She clutched her phone, her mind racing with questions about why the hospital had fired her out of the blue -she'd barely returned from Logan Manor before getting the boot. Teresa was certain Richard Logan was behind this. Just thinking about it made her scoff, cold and bitter. Richard Logan used to treat her with a bit of courtesy, but now his real face was showing. 'Richard and Charles-guess they really are two peas in a pod, same blood running through their veins,' Teresa thought bitterly. She was still staring at her phone when Theodore walked in through the back door.
He was dressed down in comfy loungewear-a rare sight, since he was usually all business in a suit. Teresa almost didn't recognize him. She froze for a second, then blurted out, "Big brother." Theodore changed his shoes at the door, then stood up and walked over to her. As he walked over, Theodore asked directly, "You got fired?" Teresa stared at him, startled. "How did you know?" He'd actually been at the door when she answered the call, but he didn't come in right away-he was just E55 Vouchers curious who she was talking to.
He couldn't make out what the other person was saying, but just from Teresa's face, he could more or less figure out what was up. Theodore walked over, gave a dismissive grunt, and sat down beside her. Seeing Teresa on the verge of tears, Theodore forced himself to swallow the harsh words he'd been ready to say. He reached out, drew her into his embrace, and said softly, "It's nothing. From now on, your big brother's got you." His tone was light, as if it was no big deal to him at all. Even hearing that, Teresa still felt suffocated inside.
She let out a long sigh and said, "But big brother, I still want to be a doctor. My grad school results are coming out soon, and I could be a direct-track student under Cedric, from master's all the way to Ph.D." Theodore glanced down at her, a faint smile on his lips. "As long as you're not going back to Charles, whatever you want to do, you have my full support." Just as they were talking, Teresa's phone started ringing again. Almost without thinking, she picked it up to see who was calling. It wasn't Troy-it was Cedric.

Teresa noticed Theodore's puzzled look, so she held up her phone and gave it a little shake. "Big brother, it's Professor Judd. Speak of the devil, right?" Theodore just smiled, keeping quiet, but he could read her thoughts like an open book. Teresa answered the call, her voice gentle as she said, "Professor Judd." Cedric's laughter echoed through the phone. "Congratulations!" Teresa laughed too. "Guess I'll be relying on you a lot from now on, Professor." Cedric replied, "You've got real talent, Teresa.
You don't need much guidance from me-just focus in class and put your heart into your research. Graduation is just a matter of time." Teresa smiled again. "With your guidance, Professor, I'll do my best." Cedric's laughter got even more playful. "Once you've graduated, you and that kid Hector should really think about tying the knot. If you wait any longer, you'll both be old-timers!" Teresa froze, a little flustered. "Professor Judd, Hector and I are just good friends, really. We-" Cedric could tell she was about to turn him down, but he didn't let her finish.
"You've got all the time in the world, Teresa-no rush to decide. Honestly, Hector's reliable, and you're both in the same profession. If you end up with him, you two will have it made. Teresa, think it over-guys like him don't come around often, so don't let him get away." Teresa tried to explain again. "Professor Judd, 1-" But Cedric cut her off once more. "Alright, your acceptance letter will be delivered in a couple of days. I've got to go-someone's here to see me." Before Teresa could say another word, Cedric ended the call.
Teresa stared at her phone, the busy signal still buzzing in her car. She turned to Theodore, who was watching her-his eyes crinkled with a smile, but his face was all business. "Have you made up your mind?" he asked. Her face went beet red as she looked at him, confused. "Made up my mind about what?" Theodore cut straight to the point. "Have you decided you're going with Troy?" Teresa looked at Theodore, stumbling over her words. "Big brother, I'm not-" Theodore cut her off. "You turned Hector down, but you're all worked up over Troy's safety.
Don't try to tell me you're just friends with him." Teresa looked down, suddenly tongue-tied. Her silence said it all-Theodore could read her like a book. But he didn't say anything, choosing not to press her about it. That afternoon, Teresa took a nap at home to catch up on some rest. When she woke up, the servants took her for a walk around the Sullivan Mansion grounds. That evening, after dinner with everyone, Teresa went upstairs with Monica to hang out for a bit.
Monica had picked up some hairstyling tricks at school, but she didn't dare experiment on Yvonne, so she begged Teresa to let her practice and promised to make her hair look beautiful. Even though Monica was a bit clumsy and sometimes pulled a little too hard-actually hurting Teresa a bit- Teresa stayed patient and let Monica fuss with her hair, never saying a word of complaint. Yvonne came upstairs and saw Teresa's hair was a total mess.
She frowned and snapped at Monica, "Monica, is this how you treat Aunt Teresa?" Monica hung her head, mumbling, "Mom, doesn't it look pretty?" Yvonne's face was serious. "It's not that it looks bad, but Aunt Teresa's leg is still hurt. If you want to practice doing hair, you shouldn't be using her as your guinea pig right now." Monica's eyes welled up with tears, and before anyone knew it, she was crying. Seeing Monica break down, Teresa's heart clenched. She hugged Monica and said to Yvonne, "Sis, it's really okay.
I wanted to let Monica try-she didn't do anything wrong." 55 vouchers Yvonne snorted at Teresa. "You're way too soft on her. No wonder she thinks she can get away with anything." Teresa smiled gently. "She's a girl, after all-if we don't dote on her, who will?" Yvonne sighed, finally relenting. "It's only your aunt who spoils you like this. Just be gentle next time, don't hurt her, alright?" Monica nodded obediently. "Okay, Mom." Yvonne added, "Make sure you're good to your aunt from now on, okay?" Monica nodded even harder.
"Got it!" Teresa played with Monica until half past nine, then asked the servants to help her get ready for bed. Once Monica left the room, Teresa finally picked up her phone to check her messages. It had been almost three hours since she'd last checked her phone at dinner, but still, not a single text or call from Troy. So she wouldn't keep waiting for Troy to reach out, Teresa had even switched her phone to silent mode. On top of that, she'd left her phone far away from herself, just so she wouldn't be tempted to check it.
Even after waiting so long with no sign from him, Teresa's heart sank-she couldn't help feeling let down. She stared at her phone for a moment, but in the end, she couldn't resist. Before she knew it, she was dialing Troy's number. No answer on the other end. And when she tried again, it was just the same-no answer. After that, she didn't bother calling again. She just crawled into bed and tried to sleep.
