---- Chapter 432 "Grandma, are you alright?" Gabriella choked out, sounding like she blamed herself . However , the triumphant smile on her face was hard to suppress. She continued pitifully, "It's all my fault. I shouldn't have told you. But I never expected that they would keep something as immoral and unethical as this from you. I thought you already knew..." Tears streamed down Gabriella's face. "Grandma, just pretend Inever said anything . Also, pretend I never came to see you today. If Sebastian finds out I came, he'll kill me.
But I really didn't expect you not to know." Margaret looked at Gabriella , opening her mouth to speak, but nothing came out. It was as though Margaret couldn't hear or feel anything. She felt as if she had temporarily lost all her senses. She faltered in her steps as she left the market. Gabriella watched Margaret walk away in that broken, lost state, and her lips curled upward ina smile. She took a step forward and deliberately crushed a dying fish on the ground beneath her shoe. 1 She frowned in disgust. Her shoe was soiled.
---- Margaret somehow made it back home, but she couldn't remember how. She had been in a daze the whole way. At home, the caretaker that the Grant family assigned to take care of Margaret, Amelia Fern, hurried over. At first, Amelia had addressed Margaret respectfully, but Margaret waved that off, saying she didn't need to be served that way. So Amelia referred to Margaret as "Margie" instead. Amelia quickly supported Margaret and asked, "Margie, where have you been? You don't look well." Lying down on the bed, Margaret answered, "I'm just tired.

I want to sleep a bit, so I'll skip dinner tonight." Amelia urged, "At least eat a little. Imade some chicken soup for you. Just some broth would be good." Margaret stared blankly into the distance . In the darkness , she blinked, but sleep would not come. That night, her mind was filled with what Gabriella had said. When it was close to dawn, she rose and went to the wardrobe. Then, she took out Phillip's keepsakes and wiped them clean. It wasn't until the first light of day that she finally felt drowsy and lay back down. In the morning , Amelia knocked to check on her.
When she saw that Margaret was still asleep, she grew uneasy. After all, ---- Margaret had undergone lung cancer surgery. Though the Grant family had recently arranged for a team of specialists to examine Margaret, and the results were decent, something had seemed off with Margaret since she came back yesterday. By afternoon, Margaret finally woke. She acted as though nothing had happened, chatting cheerfully with Amelia. The two even went into the kitchen together and baked some peach crisps. Margaret asked, " Where do the Grants live?
I'd like to bring some of these to see Martha." "['ll bring you over," Amelia replied. At 4:30 pm, Margaret arrived outside the Grant residence. Amelia used to work there, so she was familiar with the gatekeepers . They immediately called inside and let the two pass. When Martha heard that Margaret had come, she froze in shock. When realization struck, she shot to her feet. Her vision darkened for a moment as she clutched Avery's hand. " What should we do?" Nicholas said, "What's there to panic about?" But his expression was strained as well. The truth couldn't be ---- hidden forever.
Now that the grandmother -in-law herself had come, trouble was inevitable. Valeria and Wendy were both a part of the Grant family. There was no way to conceal it. After all, who could fail to recognize their own daughter and granddaughter? Martha whispered sharply, "Of course I'm panicking! My poor heart could barely take it. Margaret isn't in good health. She's had surgery, after all. If something were to happen to her here at our home, wouldn't Val hold it against us? She and Sebastian only just got together after so much difficulty." She glanced upstairs.
She heard the footsteps of someone coming down. "Are Wendy and Val both home right now?" Martha asked. A staff member answered, "Mrs. Grant isn't here. She and Mr. Grant went to the hospital for a follow-up today." Even as they spoke, Margaret was led into the living room. She was family, after all, and no one dared to treat her carelessly. Amelia supported Margaret as she entered. Nicholas coughed lightly and instructed the staff to serve some drinks. Martha grabbed Margaret's hand, and the two women sat together on the couch, chatting away like besties.
---- Margaret had brought a batch of freshly baked peach crisp. It was still warm and low in sugar. She smiled and said, "I know this visit is a bit abrupt. I'd been meaning to come sooner. Thomas and Jennifer must have been troubling you all a lot.""
