---- Chapter 400 Sebastian jerked his hand away with a dark expression , letting Gabriella slump to the ground and cough violently. Grabbing the hem of her gown, she glanced at Sebastian. and Wendy. Suddenly, Gabriella laughed. She was that close to winning. "Dad, it's my fault. I didn't have the heart to drug you," she said. All she managed to do was bribe Alexander's personal assistant, Quentin, to take Alexander to the furthest lounge to rest when he was tired. Just then, a crisp sound rang in the air. Alexander's hand hung in the air, still holding the arc of motion.

He stared at Gabriella, who had slumped on the carpet, with a gloomy expression that shrouded his usual gentle features. Alexander shut his eyes, feeling mentally exhausted. He did not understand how his well-behaved, thoughtful daughter had suddenly become like that. It was as if he didn't know her at all. Alexander could not believe Gabriella had actually drugged Valeria and sent her to his lounge. ---- "Gabriella Grant, do you know what you're doing?" Alexander's voice trembled with anguish, his breath quick and uneven. Wendy hurried forward to steady him.

She, too, had just snapped out of the shock. The scene earlier felt like a dream, and it left her stunned. "What do you mean? She drugged Valeria and sent you to your lounge? Didn't you pass out?" Looking deathly pale, Alexander said seriously, "I didn't. Ask our beloved daughter what she has done." Nicholas waved his hand, his blood pressure spiking as he swayed unsteadily on his feet. He never expected his family to become a laughingstock on such an important day. Anger surged through Nicholas, but he forced himself to stay composed as he tried to keep things under control .

Suddenly, someone steadied him, saying nonchalantly, " Take it easy." Nicholas glanced at his youngest son and scoffed. "I'm fine. You should check on your mom. She takes everything to heart. Don't let her collapse again." "Am I that useless ?" asked Martha, glaring at Nicholas. Then, she walked over to Valeria with her walking stick. " Are you all right?" Martha understood what was going on. Her ---- granddaughter had drugged Valeria and even sent her to Alexander's lounge with the purpose of ruining Valeria's reputation.

Then, Gabriella told Sabrina to sleep with Sebastian, who somehow was replaced with Lucas instead. "I'm fine, Mom," Valeria assured, holding Martha's hand. Realizing Martha's fingers were freezing , Valeria instinctively squeezed them. Valeria shot Sebastian a look, and he immediately nodded. Guiding Martha forward, Valeria said, "I'll take you to get some rest." It was too chaotic there. It was supposed to be a joyful day -Martha had even put on a red bodycon dress. Her face glowed, as if the festive mood had taken a decade off her age. And now, the contrast was almost cruel.

Martha would not deny that she had always favored her granddaughter . In fact, she never mistreated Gabriella because they weren't related by blood. Martha could not understand how Gabriella had become someone like that. She could not believe the woman whose face was warped by malice and eyes filled with resentment was her granddaughter. Martha walked with shaky steps, suddenly looking much older than before. As she passed by Gabriella, Martha sighed, her eyes filled with disappointment and confusion. ---- The scene pierced Gabriella's heart. "What's this old woman disappointed about?

I'm not in the wrong. It's them! They're the ones at fault!" she thought. "Grandma!" Gabriella called out sweetly like she normally would. Martha paused in her steps, and memories of Gabriella when she was an adorable child appeared in her mind. "Grandma, did you know your beloved daughter-in-law isn't an ordinary person?" Gabriella fixed her eyes on Martha's as she clasped her hands. Gabriella wondered if Martha could handle the truth, thinking it would be more interesting if she died from the shock.
