---- Chapter 363 Selena nodded. "I'm not sleepy. I'll go out in the yard and play with the dogs." She cast a glance at Wendy. She wasn't a little kid anymore. She could tell that ever since Wendy showed up, Sebastian and Valeria hadn't been happy. "Granny, we've met before. I'm Sebastian, Valeria's husband. We got our marriage license not long ago, and we're planning, the wedding for later this year." Of course, Margaret remembered him. "Hey, Dr. Grant." Her heart was overflowing with joy. She hadn't expected two blessings in one day. Since falling ill, she had lived with so many regrets.
She only wanted to see Valeria find someone she could rely on, and to know Valeria would be loved and cared for. Margaret feared what might happen if she passed and left Valeria alone. And she had longed to see Wendy again. After all these years, she hadn't known if she ever would before the end of her life. And today, Wendy had come home. She no longer seemed resentful, and Wendy was even suggesting Margaret move back with her to Slate City. Valeria had finally found someone she could count on. ---- Tears of joy welled in Margaret's eyes.
She wiped them quickly and began introducing Wendy and Sebastian. Wendy kept her smile, but Sebastian's gaze was so unyielding and so cold that she felt a flicker of regret for coming today. She knew exactly what kind of person Sebastian was. "Granny, these are pasta from Mr. and Mrs Mendes. Could you put them in the kitchen?" Sebastian handed Margaret the two boxes of pasta he had brought along. "You've been driving all morning and haven't eaten yet, have you?

Lunch will be ready soon." Margaret took the pasta, her steps unusually light for someone who usually moved so slowly, and headed for the kitchen. Then, step by step, Sebastian closed the distance between himself and Wendy. 'The force of his presence was icy and overpowering, and Wendy instinctively stepped back. She trembled slightly. "Sebastian, I didn't think you knew about my relationship with Valeria." She feigned surprise , prodding at the wound. " So she never told you?" This was Margaret's home, and Sebastian fought to keep his temper in check. He lowered his gaze.
"You think you get to call yourself my mother-in-law? Not a chance." Wendy went pale. ---- She was, after all, his sister-in-law. At the very least, she expected some respect. But his words had cut all of that away. "Sebastian, watch your language!" Wendy warned. His voice dropped, low and cutting. "Get out." His stare was like ice. Wendy clenched her jaw, and before leaving, she shot Valeria a hard and bitter look. Sebastian took Valeria's hand and pulled her into his arms. She closed her eyes as she felt powerless.
"I didn't mean to keep it from you..." 'The truth was, she had never known how to break it to him. People avoided what they couldn't face. And she had never considered Wendy her mother. Not before, and not now. She had long since stopped hoping for a mother's love. What she carried instead was resistance and a resentment she kept buried deep. "Even if you kept it from me on purpose, it doesn't matter." His palm pressed against her back, giving it a gentle pat. Valeria lifted her head from his chest. From this angle , she caught the sharp line of his jaw.
She asked, "Do you not blame me for hiding it from you?" "If you want to tell me, tell me. If you don't, that's fine too." ---- He respected her choice. "are you not shocked? Doesn't it seem messed up, me and Wendy being tied to the same family?" Sebastian said her name firmly, though his tone was half- teasing. "Valeria, if it ever comes to that, we'll walk away from everything. Trust me, I've got the savings to make it work."" He patted her back again, smoothing away her unease. " Alexander was adopted. He and the rest of them share no blood with the Grant family.
Valeria, all you need to be is my wife. Leave everything else to me." To him, all that talk about morals and tradition was just nonsense. Nothing and no one could keep him from being with her. The only reason he even called Wendy "family" was out of respect for Alexander.
