---- Chapter 303 Sebastian tried to speak, but he couldn't do so. His throat was dry and raw with pain. It felt like shards of glass were lodged inside, and the agony caused him to sweat. Valeria said, "The doctor said the pendant tore your throat and esophagus, but luckily, it didn't reach your stomach. You won't be able to talk for a couple of days. "You can only take liquids. If you want to drink water, you'll have to wait for six hours." She sat down on the chair beside the bed. The overhead light cast both their faces ina pale, ghostly glow. 'There were no other patients in the ward.
Valeria stared at the IV bag and continued calmly, "I've paid the hospital fees. Once your drip is done, I'll leave. You should get some rest. I'll call Mr. Scott when I leave." Sebastian propped himself up with his free hand. His body was still weak and unsteady , so he trembled with the effort. The veins of the back of his hand bulged. He reached for the IV regulator and turned it all the way down, stopping the drip entirely. Valeria's eyebrow twitched slightly. ---- Sebastian's dark eyes were fixed on her. It seemed completely void of all light, and he looked like he wanted to devour her.
Since he had no intention of being reasonable, Valeria looked aside and pursed her lips together. "Your body is your own. If you don't take care of it, there's nothing I can do." She rose to her feet. "Lenny is still at home. Since you're fine, I'm going to head back." Then, she turned and left quickly. Her instincts screamed that she couldn't stay there any longer. Valeria told herself not to look back and not to stay strong. Just as she was about to get to the door, the nurse walked in with some medicine. The nurse looked behind Valeria and suddenly screamed in shock, "What are you doing?

You can't pull that out!" The nurse rushed over to stop Sebastian. However , Sebastian had already yanked the IV drip out. The force tore out a piece of his skin, and blood came gushing down his hand. The nurse's eyes widened as she froze in shock. She had seen all kinds of oddities in the hospital, but this was the first time she had seen an emergency ward turned into such a dramatic scene at midnight. Not to mention, Sebastian and Valeria were really good-looking as well. Valeria hadn't expected Sebastian to act that way suddenly.
---- Her brows furrowed as she saw the blood on the back of his hand, and she instinctively took a step back. Sebastian ignored everything. It was as though he didn't even feel the pain. His lips were pressed into a thin line, and his face was white as paper. He seized Valeria's hand and pressed it to his chest. She could feel the scars beneath his skin through the thin fabric of his shirt. Sebastian held her hand there, refusing to let go. He was a doctor, so he knew how his condition was. He knew his throat was too damaged for speech, but he forced out the words anyway.
The veins of his neck were strained until his skin was flushed red. As he spoke, every word he said seemed to fill his throat with the taste of iron. "You shouldn't have softened your resolve tonight. You shouldn't have made that call. You should have let that pendant tear through my stomach and intestines, causing bleeding and infection. "By 10:00 am tomorrow, a lawyer will have contacted you. My death would mean that you and Lenny inherit everything I own." Three years ago, when Sebastian left, he had contacted a lawyer and written his will.
If he died in Shagos, the sole heir was his beloved Valeria. ---- Five months ago, that will had nearly been enacted , but he had survived. Sebastian continued, "No matter how I forced myself to keep away for the past three years, it never worked. I told myself not to think of you, not to call you, or disturb you. I told myself you hated and despised me. "But I couldn't. I tried so hard, but I couldn't." He feared nothing , not even death. The only thing he feared was that the woman before him would forget him and become a stranger.
He feared that she would look at him with a cold, unfamiliar gaze. In Shagos, he had bought several SIM cards, calling her from different numbers. Each time she answered, he would say nothing in response. Then, a few seconds later, she would hang up.
