---- Chapter 330 As soon as Valeria's silhouette disappeared down the hall, Martha turned to Sebastian and lowered her voice. "Did you really get married? Don't lie to me. If I find out you tricked me and your father, then I'll definitely end up in the hospital tonight." Nicholas snorted coldly. "You went and got married in secret without a word to us. You didn't even have a prenuptial agreement drawn up. Do your mother and I mean anything to you? This better not be another fake marriage to fool us. I'll have someone verify it. If it's fake, I'll break your legs." "You don't have to.

They're already broken." Sebastian lifted his brows slightly. He plucked a grape from the fruit platter and popped it into his mouth, lounging back with his knees crossed casually. There were still two shotgun pellets lodged in his left knee, and the pain had been flaring these past few days. It was still tolerable, so it was not visible in his expression. Martha pressed a hand to her chest , suddenly recalling the ordeal that still made her heart race. "Enough. You've recovered. Let's not bring that up again." Minutes passed, but Valeria still hadn't returned.

So, Sebastian got up to look for her. ---- Valeria took out the marriage certificates from the car's storage compartment. She opened one of the envelopes there and took out a photograph. That morning, when they had just taken the pictures, she had only caught a glimpse before Sebastian took them away. In the photo, Sebastian's refined, aristocratic features were softened by a faint smile. Suddenly, the rumble of an engine was heard behind her, followed by a staff member's respectful call. "Mr. Grant, Mrs. Grant." Valeria's body went stiff.

She could feel a heavy gaze on her shoulders, searing past her. As she turned, she locked eyes with a middle-aged lady who had just stepped out of the car. Wendy's usually impeccable facade cracked for an instant. She lost all her composure. "What brings you here?" Valeria's gaze shifted past her, landing on the scholarly- looking man standing at her side. At that moment, she understood who he was. She had never expected the middle - aged gentleman whom she had casually met in the bookstore and enjoyed a pleasant conversation with to be Alexander.

He, too, was staring at her with a flicker of shock in his gaze. Wendy's composure crumbled. ---- Alexander glanced at his wife and whispered, "Wendy?" Her expression twisted. The sight of Valeria shattered every ounce of her poise and control. "Who allowed you to come here?" Wendy demanded . "Do you think this is somewhere someone like you can just walk into?" "Mom, what's wrong?" Gabriella , exquisitely made up and smiling sweetly, stepped down from the car. Looping her arm through Wendy's, she looked at Valeria and frowned slightly before she broke into a bright smile.

"You must be my aunt." Valeria's expression cooled. It seemed like Gabriella didn't know Valeria was Jane. Fair enough -it was impossible Wendy would have told Gabriella that. The passing staff bowed their heads respectfully, "Mr. Alexander, Madam Huxley, Ms. Grant, this lady is..." "She's my wife, Valeria." Sebastian stepped forward and took his place at Valeria's side. He laced his fingers with hers. Frowning, he looked at Gabriella with a cold and detached gaze. Didn't he tell her to stay away tonight? Why had she come back so early? "Alexander, Wendy," Sebastian said evenly.

Gabriella met Sebastian's gaze and felt a shiver run through her. Normally, Sebastian treated her with only polite indifference. Despite them living under the same roof, he had never been particularly warm to her. ---- Yet, there was something even icier in his eyes that night. Normally, Wendy would have shielded Gabriella protectively. Yet, something seemed to be going on with Wendy, who seemed to be acting strangely.
