---- Chapter 230 "My husband suddenly had chest pain last night while sleeping. It's a sharp, stabbing pain out of nowhere," Valeria said as she looked at the male doctor in front of her. When she registered, she noticed his name was Sebastian Grant. So, it really wasn't just someone with the same name. "Dr. Grant... is my husband's condition serious?" Sebastian kept his eyes on the computer . His voice was low and concise. "Admit him for surgery." He added, "Since the course of illness is short, surgery is still an option. I recommend surgery." "Thank you, Dr.
Grant." Valeria helped her husband stand. It wasn't that she wanted to start a conversation, but running into her high school crush and having him now as the attending doctor, she instinctively asked, "Sebastian, do you still remember me?" Sebastian lifted his gaze from the computer and looked at the woman in front of him. He had no recollection of her. Valeria could tell from his expression that he was distant and cold. "Dr. Grant, you're just like you were back in high school." "Go downstairs and complete the admission paperwork.
It's on the first floor." Sebastian was usually a man of few words ---- and often got complaints for it. But his diagnoses were never wrong. Perhaps because she was an old classmate, he added, noticing the worry on her face, ''The surgical success rate is high." "We used to be schoolmates. I'm from the neighboring class," Valeria said with a smile. "My name is Val-" At this moment, her phone rang. It was her mother -in-law calling. She hurriedly helped her husband out of the office. By 5:00 pm, Sebastian had finished his last patient for the day. He stood, stretching his shoulders and neck.

Just then, a WhatsApp notification popped up. "Dr. Grant, Dr. Gardner wants to see you." Valeria stood in line to collect the CT report. In her heart, she already knew the result. She went to Hall B on the first floor to check in at the reception desk for a follow-up appointment. She had Margaret wait in the seating area. She told her grandmother it was just emphysema , and that some IV treatment would take care of it. Joseph had already reviewed the report on his computer. When Valeria entered, he said directly, "It's stage 2 lung ---- cancer.
Given the patient's age, the family should consider surgery. Surgery is definitely the best option." Joseph had seen countless such cases in the hospital. He spoke plainly, with the authority of his seniority. He didn't like wasting anyone's time. "If you choose hospitalization, the thoracic ward has just expanded. You can admit her right away, or go home and wait for a surgery date. The soonest would be within a week." Valeria's lips pressed together.
"The post-op survival rate..." "That depends on the patient's specific condition." Valeria drew in a deep breath and opened the admission slip, her eyes stinging uncontrollably. She walked out of the office, dazed, her hand gripping the doorframe. Just then, someone on the outside pulled the door open. She stumbled right into the person. The examination reports in her hand scattered across the floor. Valeria crouched quickly to pick them up, tears spilling down uncontrollably . Her voice was low and hoarse.
"I'm sorry." Sebastian looked down at the crouching woman, her shoulder blades sharply outlined beneath her shirt. Up this close, she seemed far thinner than before. At his feet was a blood test report. He bent down and picked it up. In Valeria's blurred vision, a long, well-defined hand ---- appeared. Two fingers lightly held the report and handed it to her. She stared at that hand. Through the mask that blocked her breath, a familiar , cold scent seeped in. She didn't look up.
She took one glance at that hand and quickly took the report back, shoving it back into the CT folder, and turned to leave. Sebastian watched her back. She was walking quickly, almost vanishing from sight. His eyes darkened, and before his mind could catch up, his body moved first. By the time he realized, he was already following the woman's retreating figure.
