---- Chapter 334 With every word Valeria spoke, Sebastian felt as if a thin steel wire was tightening around his heart, bit by bit. Eventually, it hurt so much that it felt like he couldn't breathe. In his mind, Valeria seemed like a wisp of mist. He could touch her, but he couldn't hold her. She slipped away through the gaps in his fingers. Sebastian suddenly downed a mouthful of watermelon juice. Some pulp caught in his throat, and he broke into a violent cough. His face flushed red as he bent over slowly.
Sweat formed on his forehead, and the veins in his neck strained against his pale skin. Valeria steadied him and led him toward a quieter spot. From her bag, she took out tissues and handed them over. Sebastian didn't move, so she dabbed the corner of his lips for him. Sebastian pulled her into his arms again, asking once more, " You won't leave me, will you?" "I've already answered you," Valeria replied as she patted his back. He asked, "Could you repeat it?" She paused for a few seconds, feeling the sudden surge of emotions in him.

Choosing her words carefully, she responded, "I won't leave you." "Don't hesitate. Say it faster." Sebastian didn't relax, not ---- feeling any relief from her reply. Instead, her moments of hesitation seemed to wrench at his chest. Gripping her wrist, he felt his fear growing even more intense. "Tf left you, wouldn't I only get half your fortune? That's why I won't leave. It'd be a loss for me." Valeria's soft, teasing tone was the lifeline Sebastian clutched at. The crowd at the street fair bustled around them. People streamed past noisily.
Sebastian stood there in his white shirt , and his eyes seemed shadowed with loneliness . Valeria slipped her hand from his and looped her arm through his instead. Tilting her face up with a smile, she asked, " Didn't you say you brought me here for dinner?" "Yes." Sebastian nodded. "Let's eat." She didn't have much of an appetite. Every stall had a line, so Valeria chose a faster one. She bought a chicken fillet wrap and asked if Sebastian wanted one. When Sebastian shook his head, she suddenly remembered he had to avoid anything oily. The chicken in the wrap was golden and crisp.
As Valeria took a bite, the memory of a week ago hit her. He had collapsed in front of her, with blood filling his mouth. Now, he looked like any normal man, and even travelled with her from Broburgh City to Slate City. However, in truth, it had only been a week since that incident. Allhe could eat every day were liquid and soft foods. ---- Valeria couldn't understand how his body could endure it. Standing beside her, he truly seemed like any other healthy man, even if his voice was hoarse when he spoke. Other than having grown thinner, his usual cold expression revealed nothing.
No one would ever have guessed that he was unwell since he never showed his pain. Then, they got married earlier this morning. "What are you thinking about?" Sebastian frowned. Valeria had been staring blankly , chewing the same bite of chicken wrap for ages. Sebastian pinched her chin. He didn't use much force, but it was enough to lift her head. "What are you thinking about?" Did she regret marrying him? Valeria shook her head and finally swallowed the bite. The whole street reeked of fried food, so the air felt heavy. They were in line at a pudding stall, having already ordered their food.
She asked him, "Do you want some plain oatmeal?" Glancing around, Valeria noticed a stall selling spiced apple cider. "They don't sell oatmeal here. You haven't had dinner yet. Does your stomach still hurt?" Valeria noticed that the spiced apple cider was being sold at a discounted price, so she decided to buy a portion.
