---- Chapter 344 Before, Valeria had only ever seen Lewis on the evening news. 'Today was her first time meeting him in person. Lewis was 94 years old this year. The year before last, he had still been able to walk with a cane, full of vigor. However, last year, he underwent surgery for kidney stones. For a young person, recovery would have been quick. For someone of Lewis' age, it drained his strength. Now, he could only stay in bed every day. In the stifling summer heat, with chronic bronchitis and emphysema , he was confined entirely to bed rest.
The housekeeper, who had served by Lewis' side for many years, brightened up the moment he saw Valeria. His gaze shifted to Sebastian, who was holding her hand. The housekeeper had been like a second parent to Sebastian. Now, in his sixties, he was someone Sebastian respected greatly. At once, Sebastian introduced him. "Felix, this is my wife, Valeria. We came to see Grandpa today." "Hi, Felix," Valeria greeted. "This is good news. Lewis just woke up. He's been lying in bed all day, but his spirits are steady.
He just finished his oxygen therapy." On the second floor, the door to one of the rooms opened to reveal a spacious interior, but it looked more like a miniature ---- hospital ward with all kinds of equipment. Family doctors came daily for checkups, and Felix, along with others, had basic first aid training. On the bed lay the elder, his face lined with deep wrinkles. Though his complexion was weak, his eyes still carried authority, sharp and penetrating. Lewis glanced once at Sebastian as he walked over, but his gaze quickly fixed on the young woman at his side. He narrowed his eyes.

Ashe lifted his hand, Felix, already understanding his thoughts, stepped forward first. He picked up the glasses from. the bedside table and handed them over with a quiet word. "Mr. Sebastian brought his girlfriend back." Lewis gave a grunt. When the young man's car had driven in earlier, the guard at the compound gate had already called through on the line to report it. The old man put on his glasses , his eyes falling squarely on Valeria. No wonder his grandson had been so utterly smitten. Three years ago, at the family banquet, he had gone running after her the moment dinner was finished.
Yesterday, Martha had called him, telling him that Sebastian had gone and registered his marriage with a woman. Her voice had been filled with delight , even reminding him that young people these days liked whirlwind marriages, and as an old man, he needed to be more open-minded. ---- Lewis was a little insulted by this. Did they take him for some rigid old fossil? Weren't whirlwind marriages perfectly normal? Back when he was in the army, hadn't he married Martha's mother after meeting her just once through an introduction, filing the paperwork immediately?
By that logic, he'd had a whirlwind marriage too. "Grandpa, this is Valeria." Sebastian held her hand, prompting her to greet him. It was Valeria's first time meeting Lewis, and he was indeed exactly as the rumours had described him. She had seen him once before on television, when he was receiving an honorary award and covered in medals. Even then, his gaze was dignified and commanding. Softly, standing by Sebastian's side, Valeria said, "Grandpa. "Grandpa , how are you feeling today?" Sebastian sat down beside Lewis, his eyes falling on the record book left on the bedside table.
He opened it for a glance. It was a book on what the elder had eaten today, his blood pressure , and his blood oxygen levels. However, as soon as he sat down, Lewis shot him a glance. " Move. Let Val sit down so Ican take a look at her." Sebastian rubbed his nose, the corner of his lips lifting slightly. He stood, walked around behind Valeria, and pressed her shoulders down so she would sit. Lewis looked at the young figure before him, his voice gentler ---- now. "valeria? With a V, like victory?" he asked, guessing without thinking. Valeria replied softly, "No, like veil.
The kind of mist and cloud that drapes the sky, sorrowing through the endless day."
