---- Chapter 416 Sebastian closed his eyes. Nicholas let out a sigh. It was difficult for him to sleep in an unfamiliar environment and a hard bed, but he still felt quite happy that night. "It's been so many years since we've slept together." The corner of Sebastian's mouth tightened as he let out a faint, mocking laugh. "As far as I remember, we've never slept on the same bed before. I grew up with Grandpa." Nicholas said, "You still resent me." Sebastian replied, "I wouldn't dare." Then, Nicholas commented, "Alexander agreed to take Wendy and Gabriella to Isandria for now.
They won't be back anytime soon. As for Val and Wendy's relationship , we'll put it aside for now." "I'm not scared of anything. Are you worried that the Grant Group's stock price will take a hit because of public scrutiny?" Sebastian kept his eyes shut, but his calm tone had a hint of mockery to it. Nicholas sighed. "The Grant Group was built by your grandfather and me. But Sebastian, as your father, I also want you to settle down and be happy." Sebastian was silent for a long time. "We'll sleep." ---- "Mommy, did you marry Mr. Grant?" Selena asked.

Valeria opened the wardrobe and saw the neatly folded clothes inside. This was Selena's room. She had come in wanting to tidy up for Selena but found there was no need. On the small desk, books were lined up in order, with the chair neatly pushed in. Selena's sudden question made Valeria pause. She walked over to the bed, leaned against the headboard , and pulled Selena into her arms. "Do you like Mr. Grant, Lenny?" Selena replied, "Then, do you like him, Mommy? Are you happy when you're with Mr. Grant?" Valeria stroked Selena's hair. "I like you, Lenny.
I'm the happiest when I'm with you." "Mommy, I want you to be happy every day." Selena nestled closer. Then, she said, "I like Mr. Grant, too. If I could be with you and him every day, along with Nemo, Potato, and Pudding, I would be happy." "Lenny, do you still remember three years ago, when I took you to the hospital to see Mr. Grant for the first time? You asked me if that doctor was your father." Valeria's fingers trembled slightly as she caressed Selena's hair. Then, she added, "He is your daddy." Fora long time, there was no reply. ---- Valeria thought Selena had fallen asleep.
She was about to lay Selena down and tuck her in when Selena suddenly hugged Valeria tightly. "I knew it. He feels too much like my daddy." Valeria lifted her hand. It trembled softly for a moment before she finally patted Selena's back. These three years, as Selena grew up, Valeria could feel her change. She could feel Selena becoming gentler and more perceptive. Valeria patted Selena's back as she had when Selena was three or four. "Lenny, sleep now. I'm here." Only after Selena drifted into deep sleep did Valeria rise, tiptoeing quietly out of the room. It was quiet outside.
Valeria went out to the courtyard, letting the mosquitoes bite while she cleared her mind. She couldn't sleep. Then, she heard the sound of Margaret walking out of the living room. Margaret smiled. "Mrs. Grant Sr. has fallen asleep. She sleeps so well. Ichatted with her for quite a while, and my mouth is dry. Icame out for some water and a bit of fresh air." The two of them sat together on the balcony. Living on the first floor, it was inevitable that there were some mosquitoes on summer nights.
Valeria applied some mosquito repellent on herself and Margaret before leaning back in the lounge chair, listening to Margaret's sincere, gentle rambling. Valeria's nose stung. ---- Around them was silence. Only Margaret's voice filled her ears. Valeria pressed her lips together, pushing back the tightness she felt in her chest. "Granny, Sebastian is Lenny's biological father. Back in college, I was already with him. Granny, he'll treat Lenny well. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Sr. will treat her sincerely, too." Margaret froze, and her eyes turned red.
