---- Chapter 292 Sitting across from Valeria, Seth was cutting her steak for her. As his gaze lingered on her face, he thought that she alone could have made him stay, aside from the irresistible terms offered by Grant Group. After all, a man's interest in a woman usually started with physical attraction. "Ms. Neal, may I call you Valeria?" He was eager to close the distance between them. "Sure." Valeria smiled as he handed her the neatly cut steak. " And what should I call you?" "Just Seth," he replied. "Valeria, let's catch a movie later." It was raining that night.
Seth held the umbrella over her head as they walked out of the restaurant. In the fine drizzle , Sebastian saw Seth open the car door for her and gently fasten her seatbelt. It was wet and overcast. As Sebastian descended the steps, his left leg tensed like a rigid beam of wood, straining and aching whenever he bent it. His handsome features were pale as he watched Seth's car pull away. Calvin stood with an umbrella in hand. ---- The car park was just a short walk away. Golden Moonlight didn't have underground parking. It only provided an open- air VIP lot.

He observed the usually proud and dignified Sebastian. Due to the persistent rain, Sebastian's lean and upright posture was marked by a clear stiffness and slight limp in his left leg as he moved. Inside the car, Calvin took painkillers from the first ~aid kit while keeping an eye on Sebastian's condition. Sebastian's left knee was injured. Ever since he arrived in Broburgh City, he had to take painkillers for the persistent ache. The coastal humidity , combined with that day's rain, left him pale from the pain. Sebastian only glanced at the medication and didn't take it.
His fingers clenched tightly around his left knee. The two shotgun pellets that couldn't be surgically removed caused the pain to radiate and numb his entire leg during the rainy weather. Sebastian closed his eyes and tried to steady his breath. He couldn't help but frown as he recalled the departing figures of Valeria and Seth, where a gentle drizzle blurred Valeria's graceful figure as Seth held an umbrella for her. Sebastian suddenly felt they were a match. He had picked Seth as her prospective partner and gave him ample advantages , allowing Seth to rise above his social rank.
---- In return, Seth would have to keep Valeria in the highest regard, in both love and life, and never refuse her any request. He could even be at her beck and call. Sebastian had arranged everything for Valeria. Every day, he teetered on the brink of madness, overwhelmed by pain and remorse. Whenever Seth and Valeria had dinner together, he'd appear nearby and find a hidden corner to watch them silently. What he did had turned into a knife that pierced him, causing him to bleed profusely. Rain drizzled continuously outside, leaving streaks on the car window.
Sebastian was like a sculpture, cold and silent. He struggled to suppress the turbulent emotions inside him. That night at 10pm, everything inside him finally came to a head. Through the peephole , he saw Seth and Valeria chatting and laughing as they came back. He saw her invite Seth into the house. After waiting for more than ten minutes, Seth finally left. Valeria stood in the doorway with the door partly open. She was dressed in pink loungewear. Her long hair was loosely braided over one shoulder, giving her a relaxed, at-home ---- look.
After smiling and watching Seth leave, her gaze settled on the door across from her. The smile on her lips slowly faded as she spoke ina cold, steady tone. She sounded so calm that her voice carried a hint of sarcasm." Iknow you're watching me. I quite like this young man. Seth said he'll bring his mom to meet me this Saturday." The door opposite suddenly swung open. The person, who had been lurking in the dark waiting for the right moment, could no longer hold back. Sebastian grabbed Valeria's wrist tightly. With his other hand, he stopped the door from closing as he pushed it open.
