---- Chapter 238: Golden ~ Soraya ~ "Do we have squid? Can we make spicy calamari?" Soraya asked the cook while in the kitchen. "Let's also make some pasta." Jacob happened to grab a glass of fresh orange juice. He turned to his wife, asking, "Hon, they are already making beef stew for dinner." "Silas and Lyra are coming over," Soraya shared. "What? Now?" Jacob frowned. "They said they had something important to say,' Soraya beamed. "Mommy? Mommy!" Angela's voice rang out. "We are starting!" Soraya and Jacob calmly made their way back to the living room, where Sage and Angela were.
Since Soraya and Jacob had relocated to Belridge, Sage had been coming over on weekends. On Mondays, Soraya would usually bring Sage to her school in Cedar Heights. But Soraya knew Calum also intended to spend some weekend with Sage too, and that was fine. "Ready, Mom?" Sage asked, her eyes gleaming with excitement. Soraya took out her phone, ready to take a video. "This again," Jacob grumbled, staring at the TV screen with K- pop Demon Hunter's 'Golden' video queued up. "Come on," Soraya said.
"You have to admit it has a nice tune." ---- After Sage played the video, Soraya and Jacob watched as the kids danced and sang to the song. Soraya sometimes joined them, singing softly and bobbing her head to the beat. Jacob, on the other hand, simply sat in his chair until the kids replayed the song again and again. With each round, he found himself appreciating the music a little more. By the sixth repeat, even Jacob's head was bouncing along. "Yeah, | guess it's not bad," Jacob said, smirking. "Yeah, and they don't get tired dancing to the tune," Soraya said, chuckling.
"Why do they want to perfect this dance?" Jacob asked. "Because, Uncle, we are going to dance during Aiden and Sawyer's birthday," Sage revealed. "Yeah, Daddy," Angela said. Eventually, the kids took a break, just in time for Sawyer and Aiden to wake up from their afternoon nap. While Sage and Angela drank their juices, Jacob and Soraya took the twins out for a walk on their lawn. They wanted to strengthen the twins' legs so they could walk by the time they turned one during their birthday party. "Let's have them try to walk on their own," Jacob suggested.
They chose a part of the lawn with the most grass and started letting go of the twins. Aiden and Sawyer eagerly took their own steps. Sawyer managed to take ten steps on his own before dropping to the ground and giggling. He reached for Jacob, calling, "Daddy!" ---- Meanwhile, Aiden took eight steps and just froze in place. He didn't fall, but he didn't move any further. "Daddy!" "Oops. Looks like they are all calling for Daddy!" Soraya said, taking Aiden and handing him to her husband.

When Jacob had both twins in his arms, he kissed Aiden's cheek, saying, "I love you." Then he did the same to Sawyer. " And | love you!" "Of course, | love Mommy the most," Jacob said, pouting his lips at Soraya. Soraya laughed. She moved closer and kissed her husband. "I love you too." BEEP! BEEP! Just then, a vehicle pulled into the driveway. Soraya immediately recognized Silas's sports car. As Silas pulled in, he rolled down the window and yelled, "You two need to get a room!" In the passenger seat, Lyra was laughing so hard, waving at Soraya and Jacob.
Soraya thought there was something different about Lyra's smile. The way her eyes twinkled suggested something was up. But she didn't ask. She waited for her best friends to tell her. Finally, during dinner, Lyra said, "| have something to announce." She turned to Silas, who winked at her, making Lyra blush. It made it all the more suspicious. ---- "We are officially dating," Lyra finally said, beaming. "Soraya, say something!" "\-" Soraya laughed. "Is this for real?" "Yes," both Silas and Lyra said at the same time. "We are not faking it this time.
We are together," Silas said, turning to Lyra, smiling. "And we are happy about this decision." "Oh my god," Soraya said, placing her hand on her chest. "I'm so happy!" "I'd say it's about time," Jacob said. "With how naturally you two gravitate toward each other, it was bound to happen." "You predicted this?" Lyra asked Jacob. "We guessed," Soraya answered for him. "We have always secretly rooted for you, but when we tried suggesting it, you both always denied the possibility.
That's why | tried introducing Lyra to Rohan." "Please, don't do that again," Silas said, and both Soraya and Lyra laughed. Soraya got up and hugged both her best friends, saying, "I'm happy for you guys. | wish you all the happiness in the world, marriage, and a lot more." Her suggestion made Lyra flush, but Silas seemed to acknowledge her words. He said, "We will get there." As for the kids, they were all wrapped up in their own world, not understanding what was happening at the dinner table. Sage and Angela were talking about their favorite characters from the K-pop Demon Hunters.
Aiden and Sawyer were in their high chairs, being fed by their caregivers. Both were now ---- eating soft-cooked vegetables. After dinner, the adults had tea on the patio of the mansion. Sage and Angela went to their rooms to work on their homework. They eventually covered what made Silas finally make a move. Silas admitted to Soraya, "You were trying to make Lyra date other guys, and | was like, what the hell? If she was going to date, it should just be me!" "| guess that was how it started for me," Silas said. "What?" Lyra said, eyes wide.
"But you always said 'no, like | did." "Because you also didn't like the idea," Silas replied, shrugging. "lwas worried you might reject me." "I'm just glad you both figured it out," Soraya expressed. "Yeah." Silas let out a sigh of relief. "All that pretending sucks." All of a sudden, they heard the music "Golden" play in the living room. Jacob stood up and said, "I'll check on the kids.
They were supposed to do their homework." Soraya, Lyra, and Silas continued to chat, this time about how absurdly funny fate had been, bringing them to where they were now: Soraya with Jacob and Lyra with Silas. They reminisced, laughed, and even cried about the past. But later they realized that the song "Golden" kept replaying. "What are they up to?" Soraya muttered, turning around. "Let's head back and check," Silas suggested. They expected the girls to be dancing, and that's it, but no one prepared them for what they witnessed. ---- Jacob Steel was dancing "Golden" with the girls.
Not only that, he was singing with them! "We're goin' up, up, up, it's our moment You know together we're glowing." Jacob gave it his all. With his hand gestures and leg thumping, he looked like part of the Huntrix band! Immediately, Soraya's mouth fell open. She swore Lyra and Silas were just as shocked. As the song came to an end, the girls and Jacob struck a dramatic pose, and only then did Angela speak, "Yay! Thank you, Daddy!" "Good job, Uncle," Sage said, chuckling. "Ehem." Soraya cleared her throat.
When Jacob turned to them, he reasoned with his brows meeting, "They forced me." They all burst out laughing, because how could two little girls force the powerful Jacob Steel to dance "Golden?" But to give Jacob some face, Silas said, "I'd like to dance too." "Me too!" Lyra declared. "| guess | want to dance too?" Soraya said. In the end, they all danced to the tune with the kids. The music continued to play until they were all out of breath. It was one of the most memorable experiences Soraya had ever had with the kids and her friends combined.
