---- Chapter 228: The Mastermind ~ Amelia ~ When Amelia and Harrison were invited into Soraya's hotel suite, she thought her daughter was finally trying to reconnect with them, but instead of a warm welcome, a hug, or anything that acknowledged their relationship, Soraya kept the communication formally detached. It disappointed Amelia and Harrison, but they appreciated how Soraya trusted them with an important matter. Someone was plotting against Soraya? It was cruel. Amelia didn't know someone at Dalton Realty could have such ill intentions.
Her husband, Harrison, even went on to call the mastermind pure evil. They swore to keep it a secret, all while the investigation was underway. Soraya and Jacob said it was meant to lure the orchestrator, whoever this person was. Amelia and Harrison felt important to Soraya, even in that small gesture of keeping a secret. But when the board meeting happened, they finally realized why they were called as witnesses. Soraya wanted her and her husband to see the kind of daughter they had chosen over her.
The moment Elena spouted baseless accusations, Amelia knew her daughter was the instigator of the crime. Harrison tried to warn her, tried to make her leave, but no. Her daughter, her precious Elena, was too wrapped up in her own plan to see the signs. ---- "Elena, why? Why did you do this?" Amelia asked, her voice breaking in and out from the shock. After the entire video of Matt's arrest played on the LED screen, his text communications with Elena were shown next.
"Oh, my god!" "Elena and Matt planned this!" "Who does she think she is, trying to ruin Miss Ara's reputation?" Henry slammed his hand on the table, saying, "Elena, you have let me down and all of the Daltons!" "No! No!" Elena screamed. "It isn't what you think it is. | swear!" "Stop this "Stop!" Elena tried to turn off the video, but for some reason, it didn't work. The screen kept showing more evidence. Next were photos of Elena and Matt getting into a hotel room together. Another one showed the two of them handing the wine bottle to the hotel staff.
Harrison walked over to Elena and slapped her across the face! He barked, "How could you do this? How could you bring shame to our family?" Amelia felt like she had lost every ounce of her strength. Her legs were like jelly as she cried in her seat. She turned to Soraya and watched as her real daughter just leaned back, lifting her chin, waiting for the rest of the show to unfold. A knock on the door interrupted the commotion inside the conference room. Police officers arrived, declaring, "We have a warrant for Elena Dalton." "No, Dad! Help me!" Elena turned to Harrison, begging.

"I did not do this. | swear!" ---- "A setup? How can it be a setup?" Harrison scolded, and in that moment, he also cried. Amelia knew her husband was very disappointed with Elena. "Elena Dalton," the police said, cuffing Elena's hands. "You are under arrest for the crimes of conspiracy, defamation, and corporate sabotage." "No! No!" Elena kept screaming. "Some of you have seen it! Matt sent flowers to Soraya!" "Which | threw in the trash," Soraya said.
"Everyone in the office saw me toss it out shortly after you left." Soraya leaned forward at her table and added, "You didn't think I'd notice, did you?" Turning to the police, Soraya ordered, "Take her away!" At first, Amelia and Harrison were angered and embarrassed. They left the board meeting after that to reflect on what happened, but after two days of crying and questioning what happened, they couldn't bring themselves to ignore Elena's plea for help. Elena kept calling from the police station, asking for legal assistance.
Amelia and Harrison ended up barging into Soraya's office while she was having a meeting with Henry. Because of their intrusion, the truth of Soraya's identity became known to Henry. "Soraya!" Amelia called, her eyes watering. "Please, give your sister a chance. Please cancel the lawsuit." Amelia knelt before Soraya, crying. "She wasn't thinking. This is the first time Elena has done this. Please forgive her." Harrison followed, also kneeling before Soraya.
"We are sorry we abandoned you, Soraya, but please, just this once, give ---- Elena another chance." "What is going on?" Henry was shocked. He turned to Soraya, but the latter was still so calm. "Yes," Soraya said to Henry. "I am your brother's real daughter, the one they abandoned in Cedar Heights, but this information should not have come out!" Soraya snapped at Amelia and Harrison. "This was part of the adoption agreement you signed after making my uncle and aunt my legal parents.
And because of what you said today, you have breached that contract." Amelia noticed how Henry looked even more aghast. He was lost for words until Soraya turned to him and asked, "Henry, if Elena had tried to drug your daughter, and planned for her to be assaulted, would you forgive her?" Henry gulped. He frowned and said outright, "No. No!" "Elena is my niece, but Harrison, Amelia, what she did was wrong! She has to pay for her mistakes!" Henry spat, equally furious at their request. Soraya turned to Amelia and Harrison, saying, "There you have it.
The answer is no." "And no," Soraya shook her head. "This isn't the first time Elena has done it. She has other victims, back in her college days and even at the travel agency she is managing." "Elena has always been like that," Soraya said through gritted teeth. "When we were kids, she framed me for things I never did-" "No," Amelia cried harder. "That must have been a misunderstanding-" "I'm willing to take a polygraph test to confirm the events of the past. Ask Elena if she is willing. That way, you'll know for ---- sure whether I'm lying or not," Soraya said, shaking her head.
" How disappointing. | can't believe you still want to help her after all this." "Leave my office," Soraya ordered. "Now! | don't want to see either of you again!" "And Harrison? Amelia?" Soraya said, calling them as if they were just regular employees. "For abandoning your work for the past two days and for requesting that | not pursue legal action against your daughter, | hereby terminate both of you. From today onwards, Henry Dalton will act as the president of Dalton Realty." They did not receive any consideration from Soraya.
After confronting her at the office, news of their termination spread throughout the entire community. People questioned their decisions to help Elena, but what could they do? She was still their daughter. Every parent would still help their child in need. Even the Alvarez family was giving Matt legal help. Yet, despite this, Soraya's challenge never left Amelia's mind. Soraya said Elena had always been that way. One afternoon, while visiting Elena in prison, Amelia asked, " When you were kids, were all those things true? That Soraya stole your toys, tore your dress, and tried to hurt you?
When you were fifteen, and Soraya and Philip came to visit us, did she really push you down the stairs like you said?" "Yes, Mom! It's all true. Whatever she's saying is a lie!" Elena cried in front of her and Harrison. "Then," Amelia asked, "would you be willing to take a lie detector test to confirm this?" Immediately, Elena's expression changed. Her earlier crying ---- face turned into a frown. She snapped, "No! Mom, why would |? Why would I need to prove this to you?" Hearing Elena's response, Amelia cried. Deep down, she now knew that Soraya was telling the truth.
