---- Chapter 135: Discharged ~ Soraya ~ On Wednesday evening, Angela's fever had not returned, but she had already developed acute bronchitis at that point. At least the doctors had started her on bronchodilators and antibiotics. Earlier, the doctors explained that Angela had developed a secondary infection due to the virus. She needed to stay in the hospital for at least three days from the start of her antibiotics. So, they were expected to go home by Friday. That night, Angela chose to sleep next to her father. It was evident she had missed Jacob.
Soraya was working on her trade from the dining table of the hospital suite when she caught sight of Angela holding on to Jacob's shirt. She chuckled and said, "I think she's scared you' ll run off somewhere." "She's always very clingy when she's sick," Jacob described. "How have you done it in the past? | mean, without me around." Soraya asked. Jacob sighed, leaning down to tuck a strand of Angela's hair behind her ear. "I had meetings that got cancelled, deals that had to wait, and business trips that got cut short.
She gets sick maybe twice a year, but this is the first time she's been hospitalized." "It was just bad timing and bad flu," Jacob added. "She's already five. We need to strengthen her immune system. Since she's starting to talk, | think she's ready for an inclusion class," Soraya proposed. Jacob frowned, worry creasing his forehead. "Won't the other ---- kids bully her?" "I've already looked into it. Two schools in Belridge offer inclusion classes for children with special needs.
She'll be in the same room as other kids her age, but there will also be teachers trained to support children with disabilities. These schools also teach regular students that some children are different, so they learn to be understanding and respectful toward them," Soraya explained, sending Jacob her research. Jacob smiled. "You've thought this through very well. Thank you, Ara. But remember... we might need to move in the next school year." Soraya froze. She had completely forgotten about Jacob's plans. Her brows met. "Next school year? That's five months away, Jacob." She leaned back.
"I just thought it wasn't that soon." "After Angela gets better, we should take a quick trip to Burnell," Jacob said, mentioning the local town. "Burnell," Soraya repeated, recalling how the town was up north. She looked it up on her laptop and discovered that it was a developing coastal town. It was open and spacious, with mountains at its back and the sea at its edge. With so much unused land, it was the perfect site for a power plant. It looked beautiful in the pictures. There were lots of pines and green valleys.

It seemed like an attractive place to raise a child, but it was very far away. Traveling there would take more than half a day since it didn't have its own airport. "It's where my cousin, Beverly, lives," Jacob revealed. "Well, in the town next to it where the airport is, but relatively close. It's just about a two-hour drive." ---- When Soraya did not respond, Jacob said, "I won't press it, but I'd like for you to see it. You'd like it there. I'm due for a contract signing next week. | already have a hectare of land for myself.
After signing the contract, I'll get started on building a five-bedroom villa where we can live." "Wouldn't that be dangerous?" Soraya asked. Her question made him laugh. Jacob shook his head. "That's acommon misconception. Modern power plants are built with strict safety standards. The main systems are secured underground, with multiple layers of protection. Even in the rare case something goes wrong, it's designed so the impact doesn't reach the surrounding community. That's why people can live and work safely near them." Soraya's gaze landed on Angela.
The thought of parting with her made her heart ache. She didn't say it to Jacob, but she already considered Angela as her own. So, she took a deep breath and said, "Okay. I'll go with you next week." some Another day passed. On Thursday, Angela received visits from Philip and Emily. Some of her teachers also came to see her. By Friday, the discharge orders came after lunch. Jacob processed Angela's papers right away, and they arrived at the mansion around two in the afternoon. But to their surprise, they had a visitor.
Soraya saw Veronica yelling at a woman with reddish blonde hair at the gates. Then, the woman noticed their car pulling in. She turned her head and stared, as if seeing through the tinted windows. Soraya blinked. There was no mistaking it. This woman was Sienna Ashford. It might have been years since she was last ---- seen on TV, but Soraya had already looked her up. This was... Angela's mother. "I'll handle this. You stay here," Jacob said as he stepped out once the car stopped at the gates, leaving the driver to continue toward the mansion.
Moments later, Jacob entered the house with Veronica. Their faces were red, clearly from heated words. Soraya had purposely let Angela stay in her room so she could talk with Jacob and his mother. "What did she want?" "You don't need to worry about it. We'll handle her," Veronica said, forcing a smile. "But Jacob, she's still Angela's mother. If she wanted to see Angela, it's still her right," Soraya said. "She lost that right when she abandoned Angela," Jacob said through gritted teeth. "Sienna could request supervised visits through the court," Soraya said.
Being a mother, she understood that Sienna might want to connect with her daughter. "But that's not what she wanted," Jacob said angrily. "She wanted to take Angela on a trip, alone. And I'm not going to let that happen again, not after how she took Angela away when she was barely three, only to leave her at a friend's house for two days!" "What?" Soraya's face reddened from the revelation. "You told me Sienna returned Angela during that trip." "\ lied, okay? | didn't have it in me to tell you how bad it went," Jacob confessed. "She had taken Angela to Fairmont.
Something went wrong with her trip, and Sienna became unresponsive. | had to go find them myself. Sienna left Angela in her friend's home while she ran after some guy!" ---- His voice shook with anger. "And when | confronted her, she said Angela embarrassed her. She called my daughter a retard. She said she didn't want anything to do with her because of her autism. So, | made sure she had no more rights to Angela." Soraya was stunned by the revelation. To leave Angela at a friend's house for two days, only for a man? She couldn't believe a mother would abandon her child that way.
A strange unease settled in her chest. Soraya looked into Jacob's eyes and asked, "Is there something else | should know?" "No," Jacob said firmly. "That's it. When it comes to Sienna, I'll take care of it. You don't need to worry yourself." But Sienna only stayed quiet for a short while. Soon, she started coming around again, and her presence began to feel more like a danger.
