---- Chapter 180: Sleepy ~ Jacob ~ It was one of those rare occasions when Jacob could spend an entire week at home and just work on his laptop. So, he decided to take Angela on a weekend trip. Since they were close to the coast, they could enjoy a few nights at a beach resort. He also invited his cousin Beverly and her family. While preparing, Angela was getting excited. "Mommy and | are going to walk on the shore.

We're going to look for seashells!" "We're going to watch the sunset!" "She promised to teach me to snorkel too!" "Then she's going to play with me in the playroom." "You have to come, Daddy. You have to!" Angela tugged on his hand. "Of course, Angela. I'm taking a short break from work," Jacob revealed, caressing her head. "We could take a boat, and we could even go fishing." "Fishing! Like real fish, Daddy?" Angela exclaimed. Angela still stumbled when pronouncing words, but she had been speaking a lot more lately.

It helped that they had already enrolled her in a mainstream class that still catered to children with special needs. Having Soraya home recently was also beneficial. She was always there, ready to correct Angela as needed. ---- "Can Mommy come too?" Angela asked, her eyes gleaming. "Yeah, she-" Jacob paused. He wasn't really sure if it was possible because he had just caught Soraya taking a quick nap while working on her computer. His wife's nausea might have been slowing down, but her drowsiness seemed to have picked up.

The first thing they did when they arrived at the resort was walk along the coast and pick up seashells. One minute, they were competing to see who could collect the most, and the next, Soraya was missing. "There's Mommy, Daddy!" Angela pointed to a cabana. They found her... sleeping. In the evening, Beverly and her husband, Vincent, arrived, as well as Beverly's sister-in-law, Maya. Beverly had already given birth to a healthy baby girl, so of course, she brought her newborn too. They had a joyous dinner filled with fun and laughter. Beverly purposely picked on Jacob.

Beverly: "Even as a baby, Jacob refused to smile for photos unless his hair was combed. Aunt Veronica said, 'Smile for the camera, Jacob!' And he just frowned and adjusted his bib like it was a tie." "That explains everything," Soraya laughed. Beverly: "Jacob wasn't like other kids. When the rest of us played house, he played corporation." Soraya: "Corporation?" Beverly: "Mm-hmm! He'd make us sign contracts before we ---- could borrow his toy cars. And if we broke one, he'd fine us with candy." Soraya laughed her heart out.

"That sounds like him, all right." Beverly: "| once owed him five lollipops in late fees because | returned a Lego piece one day late. He even had a ledger, Soraya. A ledger!" "Enough. Enough," Jacob groaned. "Let's talk about you, shall we?" They were having so much fun, but right after Soraya finished her noodle soup, she leaned into Jacob. He was so engrossed in his conversation with his cousin that he simply embraced his wife to his side. It was Angela who informed him, "Daddy, Mommy is sleeping." "Oh." He turned to Soraya, stunned. "Oh!" Vincent laughed first, and the rest followed.

"This scene right here is so familiar." "Why does Mommy sleep a lot, Daddy?" Angela asked. Soraya didn't even wake up after Jacob adjusted her position in his arms. "Because your mommy is growing babies inside her, Angela," Beverly answered. "The babies need food, air, and love from your mommy all the time, even when she's just sitting down. That's why she gets sleepy." "Oh." Angela stood up and hugged Soraya. "I'll give Mommy my energy." "Aww," Beverly reacted. "Somebody loves their mommy so much," Vincent remarked. ---- "She does," Veronica said.

"Soraya is like the mommy she's been praying for." It was only then that Soraya's eyes fluttered open. She asked, " What did | miss?" "Oh, you missed a lot, Soraya. You missed a lot," Beverly answered while the rest of the table laughed, including Jacob. "Sorry." Soraya yawned. "I can't help it sometimes." That night, Angela joined Jacob and Soraya in their room. She hugged Soraya to sleep, saying, "Mommy, you can have my energy." Soraya chuckled, hugging Angela. "Thank you, Baby, but you also need your energy.

Your love and your hug are enough." "Well, Daddy can give Mommy his energy," Jacob said, climbing onto the bed with a grin. He pecked Soraya's cheek before hugging her too. Then he told Angela, "We should always hug Mommy when she feels tired, especially now that she's growing your siblings." Angela nodded before nuzzling into Soraya's chest. Achuckle escaped Soraya's lips. She turned to Jacob and kissed him. "I feel so loved." "| wonder why?" he teased, pushing back a strand of her hair. All three of them nestled in bed. Angela fell asleep first.

Soraya was getting there, but Jacob took the chance to suggest, "Honey, maybe we should postpone the wedding until after you give birth. | can't have you falling asleep during our wedding." Soraya laughed lightly. She smiled and said while yawning, " ---- Yeah. | think it's best too. | want to get over the adoption case first." "Do you still want the wedding to be held here?" Jacob asked. Soraya nodded. "The cliffside resort is just amazing. | love it." "Okay, once we have Damien and Sienna out of the way, we'll finalize the schedule of our wedding," Jacob said.

"Goodnight, Honey." Then he caressed Soraya''s belly. "Goodnight, babies. | can't wait to find out if they're boys or girls." "What would you do if they were girls?" Soraya teased. Jacob hissed. "I guess I'll prepare for more tea time, accept that my face and nails are going to get painted-" "You'll get princess stickers all over your body," Soraya added, giggling. "Hmmm." He agreed. "But if we have twin boys, then wow! I'll teach them how to play sports from the very start." It didn't take long for Soraya to doze off.

As Jacob watched Soraya and Angela asleep, he felt a calm he hadn't known in years. Everything he loved was right there - tangible, real, and breathing beside him. He would do anything to protect the family he had now, even if it meant giving up every cent he owned. He'd fight until the very end. Next week, social services would come, and Jacob would make sure they left with no doubt in their minds that Angela was home.
