---- Chapter 233: Viral ~Lyra~ Troy gave Lyra the biggest heartache of her life, and although it happened many years ago, it still made her mad. Why? Because things didn't end the day she caught Troy making out with Sabina. Out of respect for their six-year relationship, of course, Lyra still tried to make things work. Unfortunately, Troy kept choosing Sabina over and over again, until Lyra had no more strength left to keep holding on. Lyra honestly hoped Sabina's relationship with Troy wouldn't last, and that her ex would one day realize how much of a mistake it was to cheat on her.
Sadly, Sabina and Troy were still together. They weren't married yet, but they were going strong. So when Sabina suggested she was "bitter," oh, she just had to prove her wrong. But how? She didn't have a man in her life to show off! Then Lyra thought of the one person who would never let her down. Silas Ward. He wouldn't reject her, right? If he did, she would slap him ten times! Silas was the perfect person to claim as her boyfriend. Why not? He was the most accomplished alumnus at the moment. Well, technically, Soraya was, but no one knew that yet. Not many knew about her other businesses.
Silas, on the other hand, had long been known as the CEO of Aegis Core Systems and one of Cedar Heights' most desirable men. ---- So when Silas returned from the restroom, Lyra headed straight for him, powered by the courage of what felt like eight glasses of wine. 'Or was it ten?' The second she stood within arm's length, she grabbed his collar and said, "Help me, Silas. | told Sabina and Troy we're dating." Lyra said nothing more before crashing her lips to his. At first, she saw his shock.
Silas's eyes rounded, but as soon as their lips met, he supported her, one hand settling behind her neck as he parted her lips for an open-mouth kiss. Lyra felt very strange. Super strange. She swore her stomach was doing flip-flops. She had always known Silas's scent, but right then, it hit her like a drug, pulling her senses away. When they finally pulled away, she felt time stand still. Her heart raced, and as she stared into her friend's eyes, Silas murmured, "How's that for help?" "Um." She gulped. "It was...

great!" After composing herself, she turned to Troy and Sabina, catching the shocked look on both their faces. Sabina looked especially jealous. 'Well, who wouldn't be? Silas was quite a catch. And now, a very rich catch, Lyra mused triumphantly. She watched with satisfaction as Troy dragged Sabina away, but while her heart rejoiced, her gaze landed on her other best friend, Soraya. Soraya was in awe. ---- From a few tables away, some of Silas's old classmates snapped a photo of the two of them. Or was it a video? "Oh my god." That was when she realized she'd made a mistake.
And the thing about mistakes was that regret always came too late. That night, Lyra and Silas had an awkward drive back to her home. She didn't say anything, and neither did he. However, after walking her to the door, Silas smiled and said, "Good night." It wasn't his usual smile... or was it? She couldn't tell. some The next day was a weekend. Lyra slept in, wanting to rest. But around noon, she noticed everyone in her house making noise. On top of that, her phone wouldn't stop vibrating. Then she heard squeals of excitement. Lyra couldn't take it anymore.
She got out of bed in her pajamas and messy hair and went downstairs. She still lived with her parents. Their family was very close, and she only moved out whenever she had a project outside Cedar Heights. What she saw stunned her. Silas was in their house. And he was surrounded by her family. Her father, Leon. Her mother, Melanie. And her brother, Landon? 'Didn't my brother work overseas? What on earth was he doing here?' ---- "Surprise!" Landon said, stretching out his arms as Lyra approached. He hugged her tightly, smiling from ear to ear.
"I took the first flight to Cedar Heights as soon as | heard." Lyra tilted her head, confused. Behind him, her entire family looked thrilled Her father, Leon, put a firm arm around Silas and said proudly, We heard. We saw. And we are happy!" Lyra, "222" Silas beamed, dimples deep. He mouthed, 'I called you a thousand times!" "What do you mean, guys?" she finally asked. "Congratulations! Dream come true!" Melanie exclaimed. "You and Silas are finally together!" Lyra: "... "I never thought it would happen, but hey, I'm happy!" Landon added, smirking.
"My old friend Silas and my sister!" "Don't worry," Landon said with a pat on Silas's back. "Silas won't break your heart. He wouldn't dare cross me." Landon and Silas had been close friends in college. That was how Lyra met Silas in the first place. She and Silas only grew closer after Soraya started working at Aegis Core Systems. Landon then opened his phone and showed her a video, the video of her kissing Silas at the reunion. It looked hot, sexy, and absolutely real! "My friends sent me this! When | saw it, | was overjoyed! | posted it online and congratulated you!" Landon shared.
"Yeah, and my parents found out too," Silas said, nodding. " ---- They were just as happy." Lyra wanted to slap herself. Who would have thought a spur- of-the-moment kiss would go viral? And if things couldn't get worse, Landon had to say, "Do you remember back in college? You used to have a big crush on Silas!" Lyra caught Silas's astonished expression, and before she could confirm or deny anything, she grabbed his hand and said, "Guys, give us a moment. Silas and | need to talk.
Haha!" She dragged Silas up the stairs toward her room when her mother called out, "Do you guys need a condom?" Lyra: ".. "Seriously, Mom!" she snapped. Silas laughed, his blue eyes gleaming. "Not yet, Aunt Mel." "Oh, maybe no condom is better. Better results," Melanie added, and Lyra's family burst into laughter. They just laughed. Lyra couldn't believe her ears. That was how much they liked Silas. Once they entered her room, she locked the door behind them. She was ready to discuss the whole chaotic situation, but Silas brought up something else entirely.
Lyra: "What do we do?" Silas: "You had a crush on me back in college?" Silas: "Whenever Soraya teases us about dating, you act like that its the last thing you wanted, yet you had a crush on me in college?" Lyra: "So what? Can't |?"
