---- Chapter 237: Let's Be Real ~Lyra~ To be fair, this wasn't the first time Lyra and Silas shared a bed. She had slept over at his apartment many times, especially when he was still heartbroken over Soraya. And a few times, she had stayed by his side, cheering him up or just listening to him talk down on Jacob in the past. Yeah, those times he kept claiming Jacob didn't have any funny bone. It was humorous, but it was Silas's outlet back then. Now, however, he no longer had bad things to say about Jacob.
But, for them to share a bed no longer felt 'friendly' Things were changing between them. Silas was lying down, wearing her brother's clothes. He was seriously typing text messages when she climbed up the bed and put a pillow between them. When he noticed, he frowned. His piercing blue eyes stared at her and asked, "What's that?" He grabbed the pillow and put it behind him. "What's up with you?" "Nothing," she lied, and simply lay in bed, giving him her back. "Hey." He started poking her ribs. "Hey, why are you ignoring me?" "What?
No!" She tried to push away his hands, but he kept tickling her. "Stop! Stop!" She ended up facing him, chuckling. "Stop it, | said." When their eyes locked, Silas smiled at her and said, "Way better." ---- He leaned in and kissed her forehead. "Goodnight." Lyra paused and watched as he turned off the bedside lamp. She responded, "Goodnight." Silas and Lyra slept through the thunder and the rain. As the weather made her room colder, Lyra unknowingly moved closer and closer to Silas, and he casually embraced her. When morning came, she realized she was already sleeping in his arms.
Lyra fluttered her eyes open, and the second she saw Silas' handsome face, her heart fluttered. 'Oh, my god, why? WHY?' But she already knew the answer to that. She just didn't want to put aname to it. She studied how she was nestled so securely in his arms, how everything about it felt normal, yet strangely made the butterflies in her stomach go wild. Lyra sighed, surrendering to the reality, and muttered in her head, 'What am | going to do? Can this really work?' Just before she could find the answer to her question, Silas' phone started buzzing. She hated it.

It was Sunday, and Silas was supposed to rest! Lyra sat up and tried to reach for Silas's phone. It was resting on her bedside table. However, she couldn't get it from her side of the bed. So, she uncovered half of her body with the blanket and crossed her other leg to Silas' side. The moment she got Silas' phone, she smiled and quickly ended the call. It was one of his executives calling, Andrew. Lyra felt triumphant at the moment, but just then, Silas groaned. "Lyra, what are you doing?" Silas asked. ---- She stared at him and realized how she was almost straddling him.
Almost was the right term, because there was still about two or three inches between her groin and his. "Um." She bit her lip. "I turned off your phone?" Just when the situation was already tense, Lyra's door burst open. Her mom was standing there, eyes rounding and mouth dropping to the ground. "Oh, my god," Melanie Hayes reacted. Lyra gulped, and she was certain Silas did too. This was it. Her mother was going to scold her. Clearly, they were caught in a rather compromising position. However, to their shock, Melanie said, "Well, Lyra. If you're going to do it, do it right.
Take off your clothes!" She grabbed the doorknob and said, "And lock the door, for crying out loud." Melanie had partially closed the door when she added, "Don't worry. The house is completely soundproof." Lyra, "..." After her mother locked the door completely, Lyra's face turned ghostly white. She couldn't believe her mother! Then Silas laughed. He laughed so hard his eyes narrowed. He grabbed her waist and slowly rested her on her back. "Get back down before your mother gets any more ideas." She smacked him hard on the arm, saying, "It's not funny." "Is it not?" Silas asked.
"Our parents have wanted us to be together for a long time; they're willing to help us get laid." "Abhh!" she screamed, her face turning red. ---- Then the image of her mother's reaction returned. Lyra ended up laughing too. "It was so humiliating." Silas rested his face on his fist and said, "I don't mind." And just like that, time suddenly stilled. Lyra bit her lip and simply looked into Silas's eyes. Like her, he focused only on her, too deeply, too intently. He tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear, his touch warm enough to send a tremor down her spine.
"You have one of the most unique and beautiful eyes," he murmured. She couldn't speak. She didn't trust herself to. They just... stared, caught in a moment neither of them dared to break. Then Silas swallowed, his gaze flickering down to her mouth. Lyra's breath hitched. Her heart thumped so hard she felt it in her throat. He leaned in... and she didn't move. She couldn't. Every sense in her body felt suspended, waiting. When their lips finally touched, everything spun out of control. Lyra blinked in shock, but Silas's hand slipped to the back of her neck, steadying her, pulling her into him.
His lips pressed to hers with a gentle insistence, and before she could catch her breath, he coaxed her mouth open, deepening the kiss until she forgot how to breathe. Lyra responded. How could she not? She could no longer deny how good it felt to kiss him back. Not only was she feeling the high, but she felt completely safe giving in to Silas. Silas and Lyra continued to kiss for minutes longer. Sometimes they would take a breather, only to return to each other's lips. ---- It was hot and definitely heart-pumping.
When they finally pulled away, Silas's breath hit her cheek as he held her there, steady and close. "Friends don't kiss like that," he whispered, his voice thick. "I don't want to be your best friend. | want to be the man who. gets to love you, kiss you, touch you... every damn day. Let's stop pretending. Let's be real." "You feel it too, don't you?" he asked softly. Lyra blinked. She swallowed and said, "Silas, don't you dare hurt me." "won't," he swore. "I will never hurt you. How could |?
You're the only person | trust with every side of me." Lyra studied him, his expression, the reflection in his eyes. She had known this man too long and knew when he lied and when he spoke from the heart. She couldn't help but be tear- eyed as she agreed, "Okay. Let's be real." He smiled, and before she knew it, he sealed her lips with another kiss. some ~ Melanie Hayes ~ Meanwhile, outside Lyra's room, her mother had just hung a signboard on the doorknob. It read: [DO NOT DISTURB. ACTION ONGOING] She smiled and turned to her husband, Leon. She gave hima thumbs-up.
