---- Chapter 138: Comfort In Little Arms ~ Rose ~ "Calum, wait for me in the car. I'm just going to the ladies' room for a bit," Rose said. When Calum nodded and left with Sage, Rose walked into the restroom and waited. The café manager came in, and they briefly exchanged words. "Good job. You know what to do," Rose said, passing ten thousand dollars in cash to him. "Remember, we never talked, and you never called Miss Azar." "Understood, Ma'am. Thank you," the manager said before leaving the restroom. It was simple, and it worked perfectly.

Rose had colluded with the café manager, and last night, when Soraya called, she never reported it to Calum, of course. She even deleted the call log, just to be sure. If Soraya confronted her, she would simply deny it. That day, Rose had hired someone to follow Soraya around. The plan was to keep her busy, maybe bump into her car- anything, just so she wouldn't make it to the meeting or answer Calum's calls. Who would have thought that Soraya would end up in a meeting outside the office with her so- called lover, Rohan Sharma?

Upon learning this, Rose had casually suggested to Calum, " You know, our family driver is running errands today, picking up cash from our pawnshops. He'll be passing near Aegis Core Systems. | can ask him to check if Soraya's still around. Maybe she just lost track of time." In truth, their family driver was nowhere near Aegis Core ---- Systems, but Calum didn't know that. She received the photo right away, but she took her time to make it more realistic. After about thirty minutes, Rose pretended to have received a new message. "Oh," Rose said. "I think | know why she forgot about Sage.

She's having a date with that doctor!" Rose showed Calum the picture, and that pretty much ended the meeting. Calum turned to Sage, saying, "Let's go, your mom is not coming." Sage was hurt. Rose could tell that the little girl had been looking forward to meeting her mother because they hadn't seen each other in weeks. In the car, Rose pulled Sage into a hug. She said, "| know you' re sad your mom didn't come, but don't worry, sweetheart, you' Il never have to feel that way with me. I'll never let you down. | love you too much." Sage broke down in tears, clinging to Rose's clothes.

And as the little girl cried, Rose reached for Calum's hand, adding, " Your father and | will never disappoint you. Isn't that right, Calum? We will give you a family that is complete." Calum turned to her, his jaw tight. He gripped her hand firmly and nodded in confirmation. "Let's meet up with the wedding planner so we can finalize the date of our wedding." Rose nodded. They had been so busy lately, especially with the troubles at the Montclair Group, that they had postponed meeting the wedding planner. But now, Rose was certain-her dream wedding might just happen sooner than she expected.

eee ~ Soraya ~ ---- In the evening, Soraya returned to Jacob's mansion, frustrated. She tried to hide it in front of Angela. However, when Jacob arrived, she couldn't help but pour everything out. In the master bedroom, Soraya's face was red with anger as she gave Jacob a full account of what had happened that afternoon. "| went to the café, and guess what? The manager denied having called me!" Soraya said. "The only proof | have of our conversation was the call log, but apparently, it wasn't his own number-" "He used a prepaid number to call you," Jacob said, analyzing the situation.

"Most likely," Soraya replied, her hands shaking. "I hacked into their network, but none of the cameras caught an angle of Rose and the manager talking to each other." "They could have met elsewhere or spoken over the phone," Jacob suggested. "After that, | went to our old house, but Calum's car wasn't there. Belinda told me that lately, Calum and Sage had been going home to Rose's apartment. | tried to message Sage, but she had blocked me," she added. "Not Sage-maybe Rose or Calum did," Jacob said. "A child would not think of blocking someone." "Then, there was that photo of me and Rohan!

How did Calum even get that photo?" Soraya snapped. "Unless-" "Rose had you followed," Jacob implied. After that, Soraya broke down in tears, kneeling before Jacob, and he hugged her instantly. She said, "Sometimes, | feel like the world is against us-me and Sage. Am | not destined to have my daughter's love anymore?" ---- Soraya's chest felt unbearably heavy, her body shaking under the weight of her sobs. Jacob pulled her up to sit on his lap, holding her tighter.

He said, "One day, we'll figure out a way to get Sage back, but as you said-not in a way that would seem forced." Jacob kissed the side of her face. Then, unexpectedly, he carried Soraya out of the room. She didn't know where they were headed until they entered Angela's room. "Why is Mommy crying?" Angela asked. "Your mommy needs a hug," Jacob suggested. As soon as Jacob settled on Angela's bed, the little girl joined their embrace. Angela's little arms didn't reach far, but her hug was just as warm as Jacob's. Soraya pulled Angela close, and Jacob gathered them both into his hold.

Soraya didn't know how long they stayed like that, but slowly the weight of her pain lifted, and she felt so much lighter. Angela put her small hands on Soraya's face. She said, "Don't cry, Mommy." "| won't cry anymore," Soraya promised. "You give me so much comfort." "llove you, Mommy," Angela said, warming her heart again. After easing the pain in her chest, Soraya and Jacob returned to their room. Soraya bathed and changed into her sleepwear.

When she climbed into bed next to Jacob, he suggested, "I know how to make you feel so much better." Soraya looked up at him and saw mischief flashing in his eyes. She laughed and said, "No." "Do you deny that | know how to make my woman happy?" he ---- said, sitting up and taking off his shirt. 'Damn; Soraya thought. His abs alone made her heart flutter.
