---- Chapter 232: The Reunion ~ Soraya ~ "Bah! Bah!" Aiden gave out a cute baby laugh as he stared at his mom. Soraya was making silly faces. Then, Soraya lay him down on the bed, opened his shirt, and kissed Aiden's tummy. All the more, her baby laughed. Angela, who was holding Sawyer in the bed, giggled too. " Mommy, stop tickling Aiden!" Sawyer screamed, his eyes gleaming as he watched his twin brother playing with Soraya. At ten months old, Aiden and Sawyer were hitting milestones with the confidence of tiny daredevils.
Both could sit on their own without wobbling, proud and steady like little kings on their thrones. They could pull themselves up to stand whenever they found something sturdy, like Jacob's leg. Their fine motor skills were just as bold: they could grasp snacks between their fingers, bang toys together with thrilling enthusiasm, and flip through board-book pages, sometimes a little too aggressively. Aiden loved clapping the moment anyone said "Yay!", while Sawyer happily mimicked sounds and babbles, trying out new syllables every day.
They recognized familiar faces, pointed at whatever fascinated them, and giggled uncontrollably whenever the other did something silly. Together, they were a whirlwind of growth, curiosity, and heart-melting mischief. They both had dark hair and hazel eyes. To Soraya, Aiden and ---- Sawyer were looking more and more like Jacob every day. "Mama. Mama!" Sawyer called, raising his arms to Soraya. "Oh, my baby is calling Mommy?" Soraya said with a smile. Jacob happened to walk in, and Aiden saw him. The baby said, "Dada!" Her husband took Aiden while Soraya carried Sawyer.
Jacob and Soraya both kissed their twins before finally getting ready to leave. "Shall we go?" Jacob asked. He looked exquisitely handsome in a gray suit, his beard freshly shaved. On the other hand, Soraya wore an elegant mint-green dress with dark emerald embellishments on her top. Together, they looked like a perfectly harmonious pair. "Okay," Soraya said, smiling. The caregivers took over, carrying the twins while Soraya and Jacob kissed Angela goodbye.
The couple walked down the stairs together, and the moment they reached the driveway, Jacob took Soraya's hand, saying, " You look so beautiful, honey." Soraya smiled at him. She kissed his cheek and said, "You look so handsome yourself, hon." The couple was attending the alumni homecoming of Cedar Heights Institute of Technology. Jacob did not go to the same college; only Soraya, Lyra, and Silas did. However, Jacob insisted on coming with his wife. Soraya thought he was being sweet, but Silas hinted that Jacob was being overly possessive. ---- At that thought, Soraya beamed inside.
She didn't mind her overprotective and jealous husband. To her, it only meant he loved her so. Soraya had never attended any reunions in the past. However, Silas insisted it was a great way to connect with potential clients and employees. Soraya needed more programmers and executives for her new company, NeuroBloom Technologies, and attending the reunion was the perfect venue for it. After almost two hours on the road, the couple arrived at Cedar Heights Institute of Technology.
They went straight to the school's gymnasium, which had been converted into an elegant, grand social hall for the homecoming. When Jacob and Soraya arrived, all heads turned to them. Murmurs of awe echoed as they made their way to Silas' table. "Nice of you to join us," Silas said, smirking at Jacob Jacob looked around and put his hand on the small of Soraya' s back. "I would not miss it for the world." "You mean you're here to protect what's yours?" Silas shot back before chuckling. "No, I'm here to make sure my wife gets the best treatment," Jacob claimed, raising his chin.

Then Jacob spotted Edward Wright at another table. Soraya saw him too and waved. Immediately, Jacob's eyes narrowed, his hold on Soraya tightened. "Sure you are. Sure you are," Silas teased, laughing. "Where is Lyra?" Soraya asked. Silas motioned to a few tables away. "She's chatting with the ---- other digital marketing alumni." "Oh, great," Soraya said, smiling. Emil eventually arrived and joined their table, introducing a few of his friends to Soraya and Silas. The reunion itself was worth the trip.
Soraya discovered promising fresh graduates to hire, reconnected with someone suited for her executive team, and she and Silas met old classmates who were now potential clients. But none of that became the night's most unforgettable moment. Because the real shocker was Silas and Lyra. Lyra returned to their table in the middle of the program, gritting her teeth. Why? She had met her ex-boyfriend, Troy Sullivan. "God, | can't believe Troy is here. | thought he had moved to another city!" Lyra exclaimed, sitting next to Silas. Then she poured wine into her glass and gulped it down.
"Worse, he is with Sabina. Can you believe it? They are still together." Lyra and Troy dated for six long years. They were high school sweethearts turned college couple. To Lyra, Troy wasn't just a boyfriend; he was the future she planned around. Soraya still remembered how Lyra used to swear he was the man she would marry. Troy, to be fair, was the full package on paper. He was tall, with light-brown hair, a long, sharp nose, and that easy, friendly smile girls tended to fall for. He was the top student among the digital marketing majors in his class and a student body officer to match.
He looked like the kind of guy who had ---- his whole life lined up perfectly. Which was why Soraya would never forget the night everything shattered. Lyra had begged Soraya to come along to surprise Troy while he worked late, preparing for a school event. They arrived with excitement, ready to cheer him on. Instead, they found him in one of the dim classrooms, locked in a heated make-out session with Sabina. Sabina Slone, one of the school's most active committee volunteers, had met Troy through endless student events. Soraya thought Sabina and Lyra were similar in many ways.
They were both outgoing, confident, and magnetic. The only difference? Sabina lived in the world Troy thrived in... and that was the edge that ruined everything. "| just hate it," Lyra muttered. "The fact that they are still together proves that my relationship with Troy was just a mistake." "It was a mistake," Silas commented. Of course, he also knew. Lyra had locked herself in her room for so many days when it happened. Silas, being close friends with Lyra's older brother at that time, learned of her heartbreak too. Jacob and Emil were puzzled. Soraya had to explain to them.
After that, Jacob said, "There is a reason for everything." "Yes, like Soraya ended up with Jacob," Silas pointed out. "| know." Lyra sucked in a deep breath. "I guess I'm just pissed | don't have someone special right now." Lyra dated other men, but because she moved around so ---- much, from one marketing project to another, she hadn't met someone worth committing to. The homecoming eventually concluded, naming Silas and Soraya as the most accomplished alumni of that year. After that, more drinks followed, and former students began mingling with other tables.
Only Emil left early because he needed to take care of his younger brother. At around ten in the evening, everyone had a good amount of wine in their system. Even Soraya's face was feeling hot. They were about to leave. Silas excused himself to the bathroom, and while that happened, Troy and Sabina approached Soraya. "Soraya, we've heard of your success. Troy and | are starting an independent marketing company," Sabina said. "We were wondering if you would consider doing business with us?" Immediately, Lyra scoffed.
She snapped at Sabina, "Why would my best friend use your service when she has me?" Soraya did not smile at Sabina. She responded calmly, "That's right. Lyra handles all my marketing, and it has been a tremendous success." "You didn't have to speak that way, Lyra," Troy scolded. "Are you still bitter about what happened in the past?" Sabina asked. "That was a long time ago, Lyra. Troy and | really love each other. We didn't mean to hurt you back then." "Excuse me, | just thought it was disrespectful to offer marketing services when obviously I'm in the same field. And no, I'm not bitter.
| have happily moved on with someone special," Lyra said. ---- Soraya didn't know if it was just the liquor talking, but she did not correct her friend. Neither did Jacob. "Really? You're dating someone?" Sabina chuckled, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "That's not what | heard. Who are you seeing?" "It's none of your business," Lyra snapped. "Let's just go," Troy said, shaking his head. "She's just trying to catch my attention." Soraya felt Lyra had been wronged completely.
She was thinking of Rohan and was about to mention his name when Lyra said, "The truth is, we haven't gone public with our relationship, but Silas and | are dating." Soraya: "..." "Silas? The Silas Ward?" Sabina asked, laughing. "Prove it!" Soraya: "... "Oh, I'll prove it!" Lyra got up. When she spotted Silas, she marched in his direction, and before Soraya knew it, Lyra crashed her lips to his. Time slowed down for a moment as Soraya watched it all happen. Jacob choked on his own spit, whereas Soraya reached for a peanut and munched it hard.
She reached for another, and another until the kiss finished. 'What the hell just happened?' The strange thing was, Silas had kissed Lyra back, hard.
