---- Chapter 184: Second Trial ~ Rose ~ Rose didn't bother staying the night at the hospital. She and Calum immediately went to the old Montclair estate with the intention of taking Sage. However, Amanda refused, as expected, and ended up arguing with Calum. Calum: "Mom, | also need to be with my daughter. | miss her." Amanda: "! don't want Rose influencing her again!" Calum: "Rose promised not to speak ill of Soraya. | won't either.
Everything has changed now that we know Soraya didn' t drug me seven years ago." It was already eleven in the evening when they arrived, so Sage was already asleep. Calum and Amanda still fought with words. Cedric tried to mediate between them, but Amanda wouldn't give up. Rose did what she thought was best. "Mrs. Montclair." Before Amanda could react, Rose kneeled, her hands quickly pressed against the tiled floor. "| swear on my life, | will not speak against Soraya, nor will | try to make Sage hate her mother.
Whatever misunderstandings we had about Soraya are all in the past." Rose cried as she looked up at Amanda. They weren't fake tears. This time, she truly feared losing Calum. "Please, Mrs. Montclair." "Rose, get up," Calum said. He quickly leaned down to help her, but Rose kept her body down. Amanda was shocked by her efforts. Honestly, Rose hadn't ---- expected to go to such an extreme either, but she had to do what she had to do. This was... her last hope of keeping Calum. "Are you really pregnant? How is it possible that you got pregnant in just what?
A month and a half after your miscarriage?" Amanda barked. Rose put her hands together and said, "| swear | am." Because she really was pregnant. Rose hadn't expected it either. After her miscarriage, she recovered quickly. Her first pregnancy was still young, and her bleeding didn't last long. Dr. Gilbert had explained that she ovulated sooner than expected. She got lucky, very lucky. "Let's see if it's true. You and Calum stay here for the night. Tomorrow morning, I'll take you to the hospital for a blood test," Amanda demanded. "Mom, you cannot treat my wife this way!" Calum snapped.
"I am trying my best to hold back my anger because of your heart condition, but you are making it really hard for me!" "Enough!" Cedric raised his voice. He ordered his wife, "Go up to the room, Amanda." Calum helped Rose up from the floor. After Amanda left, Cedric said, "I will also insist that Sage stay with us, Calum." Cedric's eyes turned to Rose as he added, "Until such time that Rose can prove herself worthy of our trust, we will keep Sage here." "l understand that you want to be with your daughter, so this is the solution | can offer. Stay here.
You both stay here, but make sure you stop arguing with your mother," Cedric said. " ---- Your mom can't take too much resentment." After Cedric ordered the maids to prepare the room, he turned to Rose and Calum one last time. "Still, go to the hospital tomorrow and have a blood pregnancy test. That will at least win your mother's trust... partially." The next day, they left for the hospital early. She, Cedric, and Calum went. By six a.m., Rose's blood had already been drawn. Cedric used his contacts to get the results quickly. After just an hour of waiting, the paper was handed to him.

Rose watched as Cedric slowly opened the results. He sighed the moment he saw the report. "Are you satisfied now, Dad?" Calum asked. "Do you also want her to undergo another ultrasound?" Cedric called Amanda. He shared, "Rose is pregnant." He lazily turned his attention to Rose and Calum, saying, "Let's go home." When they returned to the old Montclair mansion, Sage ran toward Calum. "Daddy!" Rose smiled at Sage, but she quickly noticed the change in the way the little girl greeted her. "Good morning, Aunt Rose." "Sage," she said softly. "I missed you so much. Come and hug me.
Sage embraced her, but Rose felt it; the warmth of Sage's hold was no longer the same. They had breakfast. Afterward, the adults went to the study to talk about their arrangement. "So, how many weeks pregnant are you?" Amanda quickly asked. Rose humbled herself. She slowly looked at Amanda and said, ---- "Well, four weeks." "| was there when the doctor did an ultrasound. The doctor explained there's still no heartbeat yet, but a sac had formed," Calum shared. He even handed the ultrasound report. "| don't mean to doubt the pregnancy. | was just surprised," Amanda admitted.
"But given what happened before with Sage, | have personally decided what's best for this family,' Cedric said. He motioned to both Calum and Rose. "You both have hurt Soraya so much. We owe it to her to open Sage's eyes and nurture their relationship again. So, to make it happen, we will all live under one roof. That way, we can see how you both manage Sage." "But Dad, Mom-" Calum reacted, gritting his teeth. "No buts!" Cedric said. "That's my final decision. If you don't like it, you are welcome to sue your own parents." Rose knew Calum would not do that.
He still felt obligated to repay his parents for his past mistakes, from mishandling the company to how he treated Soraya. So, from then on, their lives began as an extended family. some ~ Soraya ~ Meanwhile, for Soraya and Jacob, the fight to keep Angela continued. They did this while simultaneously growing their individual business ventures and getting through the first stage of Soraya's second trimester. But like every legal battle, there were hurdles along the way.
Damien Cross filed a motion to postpone his social services visit, citing a plumbing failure at his home that had caused mold growth. The judge granted the request, concluding the situation was beyond Damien's control. ---- It angered Soraya and Jacob because it further delayed the entire process. The second hearing arrived, and it instead covered Angela's Asperger's and the treatment she had received. The therapists testified how Angela had improved over the years, especially after Soraya's intervention. The first part went in Soraya and Jacob's favor.
Sadly, Damien' s camp argued that he would have also been able to provide Angela with the same care and treatment had he been given the chance to play the role of a father. In the end, the incident where Angela had nearly been hit by a car became the main highlight of the second hearing. Being the parent who was with Angela that night, Jacob was put on the stand. Edmund: "Mr.
Steel, at the time of the incident, you were walking with your daughter, correct?" Jacob: "Yes." Edmund: "And Angela has special needs that sometimes make her impulsive?" Jacob: "Yes." Edmund: "So would it be fair to say you were aware she might act unpredictably?" Jacob: "Yes." Edmund: "Yet despite that, she managed to run into the street?" Jacob: "She pulled away suddenly." Edmund: "Did you try to stop her?" Jacob: "Of course | did." Edmund: "How far did she get before you caught up?" ---- Jacob: "Across the road.
My now wife managed to intercept and save her from getting hit by the car." Edmund: "So for a few moments, your daughter was in the middle of the road with cars passing by?" Soraya saw how Jacob didn't want to answer the question. The judge had to remind him. Jacob: "Unfortunately, yes." Edmund: "Didn't you have a bodyguard with you?" Jacob: "Yes." Edmund: "And the bodyguard also failed to run after your daughter?" Jacob: "Yes." Edmund: "Mr.
Steel, you confirm that Angela has sensory sensitivities and can become unpredictable, correct?" Jacob: "Yes." Edmund: "And yet you chose to walk near a busy street with her, instead of, say, keeping her away from traffic or having your bodyguard hold her other hand?" Jacob: "I didn't think-" Edmund: "Exactly, Mr. Steel. You didn't think it would happen again. No further questions, Your Honor." Damien's camp tried to portray Jacob as an unfit parent.
Soraya could only hope that the records of Jacob's devotion, his investment in Angela's care, and his sleepless nights would speak louder than their accusations. Sure, they may have lost points during the second hearing, but Soraya swore the next one would be theirs. Damien looked smug, unaware that Soraya and Jacob had ---- already laid the groundwork for his downfall.
