Chapter 154: Burnell
~ Soraya ~
Amanda's question came right after a few of their guests left.
Only Soraya’s uncle and aunt, Veronica, Amanda, Cedric, and,
of course, Lyra and Silas, remained in the venue.
The couple looked at each other before Jacob revealed, “At
first, we were looking at venues within Belridge, but we are
planning on moving.”
Lyra frowned. “What?”
“Move?” Amanda reacted.
Meanwhile, Philip heaved a sigh, and Emily shrugged.
Veronica quickly excused Angela, carrying her to a sofa a bit
further from the tables, but still within the venue. “Come here,
Angela. Accompany Grandma. | want to relax for a bit.”
When Angela was at a safe distance, Jacob explained, “
Soraya and | feel it would be safer to be away from the
harassment for now.”
Everyone who remained was already aware of the real reason
why Soraya and Jacob married quickly. They had explained
about the strangers who were suddenly stalking Angela at the
therapy center, and Sienna finding Soraya at the office.
“We could request another restraining order, but the truth is, it’
s just paper,” Jacob reasoned. “The best way for us to protect
Angela is to... take her to a safer environment.”
“It’s still not final,” Soraya leaned in, her gaze landing on Silas
and Lyra. “But should we decide on it, Jacob and | will take
turns flying to Cedar Heights and Belridge. And I'll be working
from home for the most part.”
----
“Wow, that is a big change,” Silas said, shaking his head.
“But we understand,” Lyra said, giving off her bright smile
again. “Whatever is best for Angela. Besides, when you were
with—well, you know—you were like in another country too.
Haha.”
“True.” Silas rolled his eyes.
Only Cedric and Amanda wore that look of regret because
they knew Lyra was referring to Calum.
“So, should that happen,” Jacob said, “the wedding might be
in Burnell.”
“Burnell?” Cedric reacted. “That's—" A frown formed on his
face.
“Nothing is too far for us,” Amanda interrupted. “We can
charter a plane if we have to, whenever we want to see you.”
“Right,” Cedric said, forming a smile.
“We are going to Burnell tomorrow, so we should be making
our final decision by next week,” Jacob revealed.
“We wish you all the best with your choices,” Amanda said,
smiling. Then her gaze landed on Soraya’s hand. “Nice ring, by
the way.”
“I've been staring at it too,” Lyra remarked. “It’s gorgeous. It
looks luxurious!”
Soraya looked at her hand, the sapphire ring gleaming in the
light. She said, “Jacob got it for me.”
“It’s her engagement ring,” Jacob explained to the others. “
Our wedding bands are still being made.”
He turned to Soraya with assurance. “It's not that expensive.”
“For Jacob, maybe,’ Amanda remarked, and everyone at their
table laughed, including Emily and Philip.

“How much did you pay for this ring, Jacob?” Soraya asked,
frowning.
Jacob coughed and said, “Three—” cough “Mmmm.”
“Three million?” Soraya’s eyes widened. “That's a very good
deal.”
Then again, Soraya had little experience with high-end jewelry,
particularly the kind that ended up in exclusive auctions. She
simply took Jacob's words for it.
What she didn't realize was how much effort Jacob had
quietly poured into obtaining her treasured engagement ring.
set
The next day, Soraya and Jacob, along with Veronica and
Angela, flew out to Wexford City, the town next to Burnell.
Jacob chartered a plane for their two-hour journey, and when
they landed, his cousin met them at the airport: Beverly Quinn.
Beverly was Jacob's cousin from his mother's side. She was a
few years older than Jacob, at thirty-four years old, with wavy,
long dark brown hair and a tall, slender figure, despite being
eight months pregnant.
“Jacob!” Beverly greeted him, hugging him at the arrivals area.
Veronica also approached, giving Beverly the same warm
embrace.
After that, Jacob pulled Soraya’s hand and introduced her. “
Beverly, this is my wife, Ara.”
“Ara!” Beverly grinned, arms outstretched. She embraced
Soraya, and after pulling away, she studied her. “Ara, you look
like someone fresh from college. You have such a young face!
Soraya flushed. She had an idea where she got her youthful
look, but she wasn’t proud of it. Still, she said, “Thank you. It's

nice meeting you, Beverly.”
“Aunt Veronica and Jacob have told me so much about you. |
can't wait to get to know you better,” Beverly said with
excitement. Then, she turned her attention to Angela.
They all chatted for a bit at the airport, but soon made their
way to Beverly's home. In the van, Jacob, Veronica, and
Beverly talked about her husband and pregnancy.
“Vincent is out of town. That project at New Avenport has
been keeping him busy,” Beverly said, referring to her husband.
“Thank goodness for Maya for keeping me company.”
“Who is Maya?” Jacob asked.
Jacob was in the third row of seats with Soraya and Angela,
while Beverly and Veronica sat in the second row. Beverly
snapped at Jacob, scolding, “My sister-in-law. My goodness,
Jacob, you have to remember family.”
“I'm sorry. You know, | rarely visit,” Jacob said. “But | will be
visiting more often now.”
The group had a late lunch at Beverly's home, a wide two-
story mansion with more than ten spacious rooms. The estate
boasted huge gardens and stood within a community
surrounded by lush trees and beautifully landscaped grounds.
They met Beverly's sister-in-law while they were there. Maya
Quinn did not talk much, but Soraya noted how she always.
paid attention to Beverly's care.
After two hours of rest, Soraya's party was once again on the
road for Burnell. This time, they made no stops to ensure they
would arrive before midnight.
In the van, Jacob explained their temporary accommodation.
“Nexa Power is meant to be the largest hybrid energy hub in
the country,’ Jacob explained. "Most of the structures are
----
already up, but my fifty billion investment went into the parts
that make it work—the battery systems to store power, the
transmission lines that carry it across the grid, and the
underground safety controls.”
“The complex itself stretches for thousands of acres. Around
the heart of the plant, they are constructing a small gated
community for the owners and investors. The entire property
covers nearly thirty thousand acres. It's a miniature town in its
own right.”
“There's a hotel within the complex, mainly for business
gatherings. That is where we will be staying for the meantime,
over the weekend and while we wait for my villa to be
completed,” Jacob smiled at Soraya, adding, “| promise you,
you will love it.”
But because they arrived at night, Soraya didn't get to see its
beauty. They were too tired from the journey, so they
immediately rested. Angela stayed with the couple as they
slept.
When morning came, Soraya found Jacob standing by the
curtains of their spacious room. Angela was already up,
rubbing her eyes.
“Are you ready to see our home for the next year?” Jacob
asked.
Achuckle left Soraya’s lips. She got up and carried Angela. “
Let's see.”
Jacob pulled the curtains aside, revealing a balcony just
outside their room. They stepped out, and Soraya’s jaw
dropped.
“Oh my God!”
“It’s beautiful!” Angela exclaimed.
