"Your work today is to go shopping with Callie." Nyla bit the inside of her cheek, swallowing her frustration. Ethan was being utterly unreasonable. "Got it," she replied tersely, her reluctance evident. On her very first day at Crestwave Group, Nyla found herself leaving after barely an hour of work-all because of Callie. She couldn't even begin to fathom why Callie was so insistent on dragging her along. Callie toured some of the most prestigious bridal shops in Ulares, while Nyla trailed silently behind, observing the spectacle.

"How did you meet my brother?" Callie asked suddenly, her tone sharp, the friendly façade slipping to reveal a trace of hostility. For a moment, Nyla thought the pretense was entirely gone. "Why? Nyla was trying to steal her future husband, and yet Johnny wanted her to play nice? It was the most absurd thing she'd ever heard. But Johnny's attitude infuriated her. He seemed bewitched by Nyla, ready to give her anything. How could she not be jealous? "What could I possibly deceive him about?" Nyla countered, her smirk widening slightly.

"You're overthinking it." She found Callie's defensiveness amusing. Clearly, Callie didn't know the whole story-especially not about the incident from the past. Since she couldn't find any clues from Callie, Nyla wasn't about to waste time interacting with her. As for Johnny, Nyla wasn't sure if he truly regretted his actions, but it didn't matter.
