Chapter 434: Stealthily, she slipped out of the bed covers, retrieved her clothes, and started dressing at a deliberate pace. "Don't bother with those; I've got new clothes ready for you," said a deep, husky voice from behind her. Chills raced down Nyla's spine as she clenched her fists, demanding, "What do you want from me? We're through. Why can't you just let me leave?" She was baffled by his persistence. Considering Callie and, previously, Veda were in the picture, why did he still harass her? She had long since moved on from their past. All she felt now was irritation.

"Just come live with me," Ethan said slowly. "Absolutely not!" Nyla shot back immediately. She quickly finished dressing, grabbed her phone, and prepared to exit hastily. "You came onto me last night, and now you deny it? Isn't that a little unfair, Nyla?" Ethan called out as she reached the door. Stopping dead in her tracks, Nyla turned around in disbelief. He approached and pinned her against the wall.

"You held onto me the entire night. See, you left this." He pointed to a faint red mark on his neck while staring intensely into her eyes. Instantly recognizing the mark, Nyla's mind was thrown into turmoil. "If so, I apologize. That was inappropriate," she said, turning away to avoid his stare. Ethan chuckled lightly. "A simple apology won't do. Have breakfast with me, and then we'll be even." Checking her phone, she saw numerous missed calls from Bonnie. Her heart raced. She had neglected to update Bonnie the night before. She quickly dialed back, and Bonnie picked up immediately, her voice filled with worry.

"Nyla, you've been gone all night without any word! I was so worried!" Before Nyla could get a word in, Bonnie continued, "You're grown, but couldn't you at least send a text? Is your phone just for show? There's a child back home counting on you, and it's been tough keeping her calm! If you can't come home, at least drop a text to let me know you're safe." . . .
