Chapter 121: Just as she finished freshening up, Nyla heard the familiar sound of Ethan's car and instinctively looked out toward the balcony. Ethan's black Maybach was parked in front of the gates, curiously not driven in. Confused, Nyla leaned out to see better, the brisk wind blanching her skin. In the vehicle, Ethan and Callie were seated unusually close, with Callie nearly draped over Ethan. In a fleeting moment, Callie moved closer, and from where Nyla stood, it appeared they shared a kiss. Reeling from the sight, Nyla stumbled backward, disbelief painting her face.
Trembling, she retreated to the bed, haunted by the image. Until now, she hadn't witnessed such closeness between them, realizing she had merely been oblivious before. Tears welled up in Nyla's eyes as she covered her mouth, a sorrowful cry escaping her. Why did she have to witness this? Why couldn't she remain blissfully unaware? As the day's events replayed in her mind, Nyla lay down, curling into a ball, and began to laugh through her tears, the sound marked by profound sorrow. She accepted the harsh truth that she would never be his priority.

Even though he knew she wasn't the type to stir up trouble, he still saw her as the one at fault. She felt utterly drained. Meanwhile, in the Maybach, Ethan felt Callie's hands becoming more insistent as she leaned closer and pushed her away. The air inside was heavy with the scent of alcohol. Ethan's gaze was foggy, yet suddenly intense, as he confronted her, asking, "What are you doing?" Ł@ŧëşŧ ÇĦ@þŦèŕş íń . Taken aback by his words, Callie bit her lip, feeling wronged. "I just thought, after all this time, we still haven't been close.
Aren't you happy with me?" Ethan, plagued by a splitting headache, replied tersely, "It's not like that." Callie's eyes were tear-stained as she asked, "Why didn't you hold my hand? You even pushed me away when I tried to get closer, not to mention a kiss. Am I really so undesirable?" Ethan's headache intensified, aggravated by the strong perfume filling the air. His thoughts drifted to Nyla. Unlike the artificial scents that irritated him, Nyla always had a subtle, natural smell that lingered delightfully on her, especially after their intimacy.
Today's synthetic aroma only served to annoy him further. "Today's not a good day for me. I'm going to have the driver take you home," he said, ready to exit the vehicle. Callie clasped his hand, her voice soft yet desperate. "Can't I stay over just for tonight?" . . .
