Chapter 443: Nyla was taken aback by Ethan's unexpected compliance. Her surprise was tinged with a sense of letdown. She had been preparing for this legal battle for two years, confident of her victory. She had been determined to secure a divorce, and now, with it almost within reach, she felt deflated. They remained silent for the rest of the drive. When they reached Nyla's house, Ethan let her out without a word and drove away, leaving her unsettled by his reaction. She stood still for a moment, lost in thought, before slowly making her way inside. The house was brightly lit.
As she placed her belongings on the table, Charlotte came bounding over. "Mommy, I saw that handsome man! Do you know him?" Charlotte bubbled with excitement. Behind her, Bonnie gestured resignedly, unsure of how to react. "He's... someone Mommy knows through work," Nyla explained, crouching down to hug and kiss her daughter on the cheek. "Should I get him to chase after you, then?" Charlotte asked innocently. Nyla was taken aback. "Oh, Charlotte, that might not be a good idea. What if he's interested in someone else? Come on, let's head upstairs.
Mommy just finished work and she needs to relax," Bonnie suggested, lifting the little girl up and leading her away. Bonnie descended the stairs after settling Charlotte. "You were with him that night, right?" Bonnie guessed immediately. Seated on the couch, Nyla rested her head on her hand and gave a slow nod. "It wasn't planned." "Really? It looked like you two were in sync, not at all like it was unexpected," Bonnie commented, her voice tinged with irony. Finding herself without a clear explanation, Nyla struggled to respond.

"Nyla, are you really considering going down that path again after all these years? Don't you remember how hard it was to escape that situation before? Where was Ethan during all of that? Just because he's Charlotte's dad doesn't mean you should make the same mistake again," Bonnie continued. I promise, there won't be another meeting," Nyla reassured her. Skeptically, Bonnie asked, "Are you sure?" Firmly, Nyla nodded.
"Yes, I've already initiated the divorce proceedings. It'll be finalized soon." "Alright, I'll leave now. And don't forget, we're going wedding dress shopping in a few days," Bonnie said. Bonnie and Austen, having been a couple for years, were now approaching their wedding day, which comforted Nyla somewhat. Still, tensions lingered between their families, primarily due to Austen's mother, who believed Bonnie was a hindrance to her son's prospects. This grievance persisted. But Austen was adamant, even threatening to cut ties with his mother, which had made her back down.
"Got it." Bonnie had arranged their shopping for the weekend, which coincided with Nyla's day off. Unfortunately, Austen had to deal with an unexpected emergency, leaving just the two of them to go. . . .
