Checking the caller ID, Callie took the call, and the guards discreetly exited. "Nyla isn't in Cloudscape Mansion," said the voice on the phone in a deep tone. "Has the item I requested been secured?" "It's ready." "Deliver it to Hayes," she replied, ending the call. Gazing upward, Callie observed the dreary sky and felt the chill of the wind. She faced the gusts with a delighted grin.

Callie believed Hayes had only Nyla to blame for his troubles, given that her defiance had implicated him. With Christmas and the New Year approaching, Nyla had granted her studio team their holidays, and Ethan was tied up with a major company event, leaving them little opportunity to interact at home. He never raised the topic of her dismissal, and Nyla didn't feel the need to offer any explanations. This arrangement, however, allowed her to have meals with Murray. When Bonnie discovered their meetings, she eagerly attempted to set them up, although Nyla was simply fulfilling an obligation.

While at the restaurant, Nyla was unconsciously shredding her steak until it was nothing more than a smashed pile. Murray watched her absent engagement and chuckled as he laid his fork aside. "Is it so terrible to have a meal with me?" Nyla, suddenly aware, looked up in slight confusion. Nyla was momentarily caught off guard, then composed herself with a reassuring smile. "You're mistaken." After his meal, Murray leaned back, relaxing into his chair. "So, do I stand no chance at all? What's so appealing about him?" Nyla found it hard to articulate. Could it be the way he had cared for her when she was sick and vulnerable? Or how he was the only one to remember her birthday with a cake after so many years without celebration?

Maybe it was because, during a severe illness, she longed for his presence, and he had rushed back from overseas just to be by her side?
