Chapter 1293: "Allison, hasn't your leg been treated?"
"It's nothing serious, so I didn't deal with it at first." She winced, holding her right leg. Even the slightest movement felt unbearable.
Kellan's brow furrowed with concern. "It's a fracture."
Without hesitation, he grabbed two sturdy branches and ripped his clothes into strips, using them to bind her leg in a makeshift splint. Allison could barely stand now.
Time was running out, and the task ahead was nothing short of demanding. The weather seemed to shift at any moment, the air thick with the promise of a storm. If they faced another bout of bad weather, survival would be impossible.
Without wasting a second, she made a swift decision. "We need to find higher ground for a signal. Every minute we stay here only brings more danger."
"I'll go. Wait for me here."
"No, we'll be most effective if we move together."
"But I'm worried."
"Kellan, I trust you."
Allison was resolute; she would climb to higher ground with him, no matter what.
Together, they trekked through the dense vines, each holding a long wooden stick, tapping the brush around them. The undergrowth was so thick that the risk of snakes, insects, or any other dangerous creature lurking nearby was a constant threat.

Allison's gaze flickered to the side, and her eyes caught a dark shape among the tangled yellow-green vines.
"Watch out!"
In a flash, she shoved Kellan away.
The black shadow moved with terrifying speed, slithering up Allison's stick and sinking its fangs deep into her wrist.
Thud!
The stick slipped from her hand.
With a surge of adrenaline, she wrenched the snake off her wrist and threw it aside.
Gripping her left arm, she winced as sweat beaded on her forehead from a mixture of fear and searing pain.
"It's a venomous snake."
And the poison was potent.
Its effects were spreading quickly through her system.
"Allison!" Kellan grabbed her hand immediately, urgency in his voice. "Don't move."
Without hesitation, he bent down and placed his mouth over her wound, trying to suck out the venom, bit by bit. The liquid he spat out was dark as night.
The sight was shocking, almost surreal.
