He was purposely trying to provoke Kellan that day. He wanted his father to see how badly he was being treated.

The servants began to move towards Hoyt to escort him out.

"Come to dinner at the Lloyd house tonight," the message read.

Although Jim didn't fully understand Kellan's plan, he obeyed without question.

Soon, a sirloin steak was placed on the table, along with fine cutlery, dishes, and wine glasses. The setting was almost too formal, giving the atmosphere in the Lloyd house an even colder edge.

"Well, don't mind if I do," Hoyt said, taking his seat. He assumed Kellan was trying to humiliate him.
