Chapter 1291: If she didn't do something soon, he might actually succumb to hypothermia.

Allison quickly removed his wet clothes and trousers and placed them near the fire before doing the same with her own.

She threw caution to the wind; social norms meant nothing under such dire circumstances. She lay beside Kellan and wrapped him in a tight embrace.

Their entangled bodies cast long shadows against the cave's stone wall. Allison didn't even feel a spark of lust in her body - the only thing that mattered at that moment was keeping themselves warm and alive. Soon enough, Kellan began to feel warm under her touch, and color slowly returned to his face.

As the hours passed, Allison drifted into a deep slumber.

The first thing she did upon waking up was check Kellan's temperature.

It was back to normal, which meant he wasn't running a fever. Thank God. His wounds were no longer bleeding, too.

Allison finally let out a sigh of relief and indulged herself in staring at Kellan's handsome face.

As if sensing her gaze, he opened his eyes.

"You're finally awake," Allison whispered, almost in wonder, as if her mind was having a hard time keeping up with reality.

When it did, she all but pounced on Kellan and held him as tightly as she could.

His jacket, which she had used as a blanket, fell away.

Hot tears rolled down her cheeks and onto his shoulder. "I was terrified…" She was terrified that she would never see him again.

Allison wept for a while before she got a hold of her emotions.

"It's good you're awake," she said in a steady tone as she wiped her tears away. "We need to think about how to get out of here."

She pulled back to look into his eyes.

"Wait here. I'll see if I can find anything to eat nearby."

She didn't even get to sit up. Kellan pulled her back into his embrace.

"I've finally found you, Allison," he murmured, cradling her face in his hands, his eyes searching hers.

If Allison didn't know any better, she might have thought he was seeing her for the first time. But she let him look, her tense expression giving way to a smile.

"Did the fall mess with your head?" she teased.

"Quite the opposite," Kellan replied urgently, as scenes from his dreams flashed in his mind.

"My memories came flooding back," he added earnestly. "Do you remember when you were kidnapped years ago? You met a boy who carried you on his back as you escaped."

Allison's breath caught in her throat.

She had never shared this part of her past with Kellan, especially since it marked the beginning of her acquaintance with Colton.
