Allison closed her eyes. "Then do it."

Verruckt didn't speak.

For a fleeting moment, irritation flashed across his face, especially when he thought about Kellan being with her. A dark, possessive feeling surged through him.

His fingers still rested against her throat, but he didn't squeeze. Instead, he forced her to look up at him. Their faces were close - too close.

"I'm not a fool who gets baited so easily." Verruckt pressed a button next to him and said expressionlessly, "You must be hungry." Soon, someone arrived with two plates of steak.

Verruckt sat down by the bed. With slow, precise movements, he cut into the steak, then lifted a piece with his fork and held it up to her mouth.

"I advise you to eat it. Otherwise, should I need to forcefully open your jaw and feed you myself? Surely you don't want to experience it, correct?"

After making sure that the food was safe, Allison took the steak. At that moment, her priority was survival. She needed to escape. And for that, she had two options - either kill Verruckt or slip away unnoticed.
