Chapter 1053: This was all Allison's fault! Somehow, she'd actually managed to worm her way into Kinslee's good graces, leaving him out in the cold.
After Nova and Brook departed, Kinslee's thoughts turned to Allison, fearing that she might carry a bruised heart after the day's events. Eager to soothe her, she spoke earnestly.
"Allison, I'm truly sorry. It's because of me that you were treated unfairly."
"It's not your fault, and I wasn't mistreated," Allison replied with a reassuring smile. "I never let anyone push me around." Her words brought a warmth to Kinslee's heart, but Allison wasn't finished. She added with a lighthearted tone,
"Besides, if anything had gone wrong, Kellan was right there with me."
What she said made Kellan smile as he sat beside her.
"Yes," he agreed quietly.
He reached for the snake-shaped necklace and placed it back around her neck with care.
Though it was just a small act, the gesture held a sense of commitment, as though he were sealing a vow.
"Allison," Kellan said, his tone steady and resolute, "as Grandmother has said, you're the one I've chosen for this lifetime. This necklace belongs to you, and that will never change."

His eyes held hers, serious and unwavering, as if the world outside the room had ceased to exist. For a moment, Allison was caught in the depth of his gaze.
Then she blinked and teased him softly, "Why so serious all of a sudden? Don't forget, Kinslee is still here."
Kellan took her hand gently but firmly.
"This is something Grandmother already approves of," he replied.
Hearing that, Kinslee turned her head, her face brightening with a smile.
"I didn't see or hear a thing," she joked, her tone playful.
Watching their exchange, she added warmly, "Seeing you two so in love, I can finally relax-"
But her sentence was cut short as she started coughing uncontrollably.
"Kinslee!" Kellan said, alarmed. Turning to Jim, he instructed firmly, "Please take Grandmother to rest. Have the doctor check on her, too."
Jim nodded quickly.
"Mr. Lloyd, the doctor is already waiting, but Mrs. Lloyd hasn't taken her medicine yet today."
Kinslee waved off their concerns, though her voice was faint.
"It's just my old condition acting up. Nothing to worry about."
She leaned slightly on her cane and smiled.
"I am a bit tired now, though. You two should rest as well. It's time I took my medicine."
