The waiter looked at his tray, which had a glass of champagne, and nodded. "'Of course. What drink would you prefer?'"

As the waiter turned to leave, Melany smiled and took the tray from him.

Once he was out of sight and no one was looking her way, Melany discreetly poured the powder into one of the champagne glasses.

The powder dissolved the instant it touched the wine. It bubbled briefly before settling back down.

The waiter came back after a short while and turned to Melany.

"'Would orange juice work for you?'" he asked.

"'Yes, absolutely. Thanks a lot,'" Melany replied with a polite smile. By then, she had already slipped the drug into the glass of wine and placed it carefully back on the table. Everything was going according to plan.

Adjusting her dress by raising the hem just a little, Melany made her way toward Allison with a purposeful stride.

"'Ms. Clarke, I need to apologize,'" she said in a soft but steady voice.
