Chapter 1284: He pressed the cold metal barrel of his gun firmly against her temple.
"Don't move," Verruckt warned.
His eyes burned with madness, his hand steady on the trigger. Kellan froze. One wrong move, and she was dead. Verruckt's expression darkened as he met Kellan's gaze. His voice dropped to something far more dangerous.
"Or I'll kill her." Allison clenched her teeth, pain searing through her body.
Yet, despite the agony, she forced her voice to stay steady.
"Kellan, do it."
She could barely get the words out, her breath shaky, but her resolve was firm.
"Don't worry about me."
Verruckt should have laughed at that-mocking her, perhaps. But he didn't.
He just stared. His voice, when he finally spoke, was unsettlingly quiet.
"Allison, do you like him that much?"
Verruckt cared so much about the answer.

He already knew the answer, but that didn't mean he wanted to believe it.
"If he dies, I will go with him."
She had never allowed herself to think about what she would do if Kellan were gone. Not until this moment did she realize just how deeply she loved him-so much that she couldn't live without him.
Her world wouldn't exist without him. They were bound by something deeper than fate-bound in life, in death, in everything.

A gunshot echoed in the distance.
"Let go of Allison!"
Verruckt's head snapped up at the sound. Fabian had arrived.
His presence changed everything. Verruckt's men were already depleted, their forces too scattered to stand a chance. And now, with Fabian's arrival, they were surrounded.
Victory was slipping through Verruckt's fingers. Fabian's hands trembled slightly, but his voice remained firm.
"I can give you whatever you want," he said.
He knew the truth now.
And as he took in the sight of Allison standing precariously near the cliff's edge, his chest tightened with fear.
He had already lost his wife and daughter once. Even if it had been a misunderstanding, the pain of it still haunted him.
He refused to make that mistake again.
Verruckt smiled sarcastically.
"You have nothing I want."
