---- Chapter 364 Before | knew it, | was signing a contract with Aldric. The very same one, in fact, that | had signed with Sebastian. Gideon's POV My wolf was snarling as | watched Avery and the others walk away. Bjorn trailed behind her, looking wistfully at me over his shoulder. She was lying. She had to be. That was my son "Ill be right back," | said suddenly, not even glancing at Fiona. "Wait, baby-" "Don't call me that." Without another word, | turned and followed them out of the room. | kept my distance throughout the tour, remaining hidden.
| watched from around corners, listening through doors as they toured the clinic. They were talking about sick kids who'd suddenly developed immunodeficiency disorders. Apparently, Avery's supplement could be beneficial in resolving this problem. | listened to hear speak about it, and she was ---- knowledgeable and compassionate It almost warmed my chest. Almost But no matter how empathetic she was to these kids, | couldn't stop thinking about how goddamn cold she'd been to me. Avoiding me, ignoring me, and now outright lying to me despite everything we once had together. Why?

It made no sense. We'd been married once. She still bore my mark on her neck, even if she kept her end of the mate bond locked up like a wild bird in a cage. And that boy that followed her around had my eyes. Either something horrible had happened to make her this way, or there was a huge misunderstanding going on that she wasn't letting me clear up. But | wouldn't give up hope. If | could just get a few minutes alone with her, enough time to explain, then she would understand. 1 She had to. | listened through the door as she signed some kind of contract with Aldric.
A moment later, the door swung open. | jumped out of sight just in time, watching from the shadows as Sebastian, Avery, and Bjorn walked away. Without hesitating, | slipped into Aldric's office. The Alpha was ---- sitting behind his desk, going over the paperwork "alpha Gideon!" He looked up at me. "Did you need something?" "I heard you're partnering with Lycan Botanicals," | said. "I was hoping to join the partnership." Aldric's brows lifted. "Is Avery aware of this?" "Not yet. | was hoping to surprise her." The Alpha looked at me for a long moment, studying me. | feared he might say no.
In fact, | expected it, But to my surprise, he shrugged "Nightwolf is an old and highly respected pack," he said. " Besides, | heard about your recent union with Alpha Matthew's daughter. I'd be honored to partner with you, given your recent strides. Why don't you attend the next meeting with me?" + My lip curled at the mention of Fiona, but | smiled, accepting Aldric's offer. A little while later, | emerged into the main area of the event again. Avery, Sebastian, and Bjorn had apparently left, because | didn't see them anywhere.
Fiona was chatting with some other women on the other side of the room. Her father spotted me and walked over, clapping me on the shoulder with a smile. But when he leaned close, his voice was ---- cold "| hope you're not jeopardizing our agreement for that woman who clearly doesn't want you," he whispered. My wolf snarled. "I only agreed to three dates and to let Fiona temporarily wear that fake diamond on her finger in exchange to find out where Avery was," | replied smoothly. "This is the first date." Matthew looked at me. Something flickered in his eyes.
| didn't bother to figure out what it was. "As soon as those three dates are up, that ring is coming off," | said. "And by then, Avery will have come back to me. So tell your daughter not to get too cozy."
