---- Chapter 112 Avery's POV "Avery! Oh my god, what are you doing here?" Ryan held out a hand to help me up and, stiffly, | accepted. He hauled me to my feet, where | wobbled unsteadily, still panting for breath. Cautiously, | turned to look the way I'd came, but there was no massive wolf barreling towards me. | guess the Rogue King had called off his pursuit when I'd run into Ryan. That was interesting. Were Ryan and Zara not working together on this? | found myself a bit relieved.

Even after all his betrayals, | was glad that Ryan didn't seem to have bought into the idea of forcing me to mate to produce an heir. | turned back towards Ryan, who was staring at me in confusion mixed with delight. It would almost be touching, if his interest in me wasn't so infuriatingly less than adequate. "| am here to find my mother." | said, primly, dusting off my clothing. | kept my voice cold and Ryan visibly backed away at my tone. | guess I was still projecting my anger at having been trapped by Zara and the Rogue King.

"Your mother?" Ryan peered around me, "Last | heard, she had disappeared... | assumed she was attending your wedding today. ---- Hey..." At the mention of my wedding | had turned away and started heading back towards the cars. If Ryan wasn't here then Zara and the Rogue King had already taken her elsewhere. | needed to find someone who could track her, or them, to where she was secured. Knowing my mother, she was such a gentle soul. She wouldn't put up a fight. That was all | could hope for, and | prayed that would be enough to keep them from harming her.

| stomped towards the SUV | came in, fumbling for my keys. | wasn't sure where | would go next, but lurking here in Silvermoon where the Rogue King and Zara wanted to kidnap me wouldn't work. "Hey... hey!" Ryan ran after me. "Avery, wait!" He snagged my sleeve and turned me to face him. "What, Ryan?" | snapped "Are you...?" "Am | what?" | said, exhausted. | looked at him from beneath my disheveled hair, and huffed my breath out. "You look.." Ryan's gaze swept me up and down. Oh yeah. | was still in that outfit, and now | was sure | looked a crazy mess with ---- blood on my neck and my mark.

My mark! | slapped a hand over my neck but | didn't feel anything, had it disappeared again? "Avery, you look like you've been through some trouble." | hated that Ryan was using that soft, kind voice he used to use back when | thought we loved each other. It reminded me, painfully, of the sweet boy I'd thought he was. Before he betrayed me. "If you need help, I'm here. | hope you know that." Ryan was saying, sincerely. His face looked so hopeful, like he thought I'd come back here for him. "| don't need your help." | snapped, "You have enough problems as itis." | turned away.

"What do you mean by that?" Ryan yelped. "Avery, just please talk to me!" "| don't have anything to say to you!" | shouted, throwing my hands in the air, "You only make my life worse! | just need to find my mother and get out of here, and if she's not here, then | need to go." ---- "Is this because of something Gideon did?" Ryan jogged next to me to keep up as | stalked towards the cars. "I know he's a jerk." | shrugged while | marched. "What business is it of yours? You were no better." "Please, Avery.

| know | fucked up, but that doesn't mean | want you to be sad." Ryan actually managed to sound half-sincere when he said it and | ventured a glance at his face as we moved. He actually looked a bit conflicted and torn up.
