Chapter 224 It was obvious what I needed to do. I straightened and turned to address the pack. +25 Bonus "Elders, Pack Leaders, Warriors," I raised my voice to address the assembly, "in light of these developments I am immediately announcing the launch of a new offensive. I will be leading our warriors to rescue Luna Avery's mother, who has fallen under the Rogue King's control." Murmuring rose at my announcement, but my eyes were focused on only one person. Avery's face turned towards me in surprise, and glorious hope transformed her expression into one of glowing joy.
It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. And it helped cover some of the shame I felt for not ordering this sooner. 1 The Pack Leaders were surprised, the cascade of shocking events and revelations from Dierdra's own lips had stunned them all. Their pledges of assistance were swift to arrive, promising their support for my plan of action. (1 Shortly after, the meeting disbanded. Dierdra was taken to her room to wait under house arrest, and I went to organize my warriors for what was coming.
This operation had been in the works for several weeks, so we weren't going in blind, but it was still incredibly dangerous and I was determined to accomplish it with as little bloodshed as possible. Several hours of preparation later, I found myself knocking on Avery's door with a greater amount of trepidation than I was used to experiencing fizzing along my nerves. When she opened the door, I stared down at her, drinking in the sight.

She must have been starting to get ready for bed, her hair was down in a thick fall of gold that tumbled around her face in gentle waves that made me want to run my fingers through and see if they felt as soft as they looked. She was wrapped in a warm bathrobe that was cinched tight around her slim waist, and despite the fact that I had clearly interrupted her when she wasn't ready for visitors, she still carried herself with an air of preparedness that made me feel as though I was the one being caught off guard standing in her doorway.
"Alpha Gideon," she looked up at me with a question in her eyes, "How can I help you?" I noticed that she didn't welcome me into her room. Our situation had reversed from her adorable stumbling comments from the night before when it had almost seemed like she had been requesting an invitation to stay in my room. Now it was I who was requesting access to hers. I looked down at her and pulled from the depths of my soul the words I had come to say.
I wanted to beg her forgiveness, to tell her that I was sorry I hadn't believed her from the beginning, that I regretted any 1/2 Chapter 224 +25 Bonus harm my ignorance had caused. (1) And yet, staring into her expectant, reserved face, the words wouldn't come. 1 Not because I didn't want to say them, but because I brought nothing to give her other than words. I hadn't rescued her mother. I hadn't brought her anything other than more hardship since I had rescued her from Silvermoon Pack those many months ago.
So instead, I said simply, "I came to ask your blessing for a successful hunt." Her eyes softened, and she lifted her hand and placed it on my arm gently. "You have my blessing. I will be holding hope in my heart while you are gone for a successful hunt and for all our warriors to return." I bowed my head in gratitude. And to hold myself back.. I wanted so badly to push for more. To ask not just for her blessing, but for her thoughts, her heart as well. I wanted her. She had proven herself time and again to me, and I had been too blind to see the treasure I had in front of me the whole time.
