Chapter 66
With that reassurance, Isabella seemed to calm down but still asked, “Where are you now? When Dad comes home, we’ll visit you tomorrow.”
Maggie answered, “No need. I’ll take care of myself. You focus on your studies.”
“Okay.”
After chatting for a while, they ended the call.
A little later, Franklin returned home. Seeing him, Isabella called out, “Dad!” Before Franklin could speak, she hurriedly added, “Dad, Mom injured her foot. She’s resting outside.”
Franklin responded with a simple “Hmm.” He took off his high-quality suit jacket, handed it to the butler, and said, “I know.”
“How do you know?” Isabella asked in surprise. “Did Mom tell you?”
Franklin sat down, took the water cup from Aunt Sara, and replied, “No. I saw it with my own eyes.”
“With your own eyes?” Isabella was taken aback. “You were there when Mom got hurt?”
Isabella seemed to remember something and said, “Oh, right. Mom works at Dad’s company, so you must have seen it when she got hurt, right?”
“Not exactly,” Franklin said in a calm tone. “Mom doesn’t work at my company anymore.”
“Ah?” Isabella looked up, confused. “Then where is she working now?”
“Somewhere she likes.”

“Oh…” After finishing his water, Franklin set the cup down, patted her on the head with his fair, large hand, and said, “Go to bed early.”
“Got it,” Isabella replied.
Around 8 p.m., Johnny brought the car back for Maggie. She took the keys from him and asked, “How much did the repairs cost?” She wanted to repay him for the expenses.
Johnny sat on the sofa and replied, “How would I know?”
“Huh?” Maggie was puzzled. “How could you take the car without paying?”
“They just heard it was your car and let me take it?” Maggie paused. “So, it was Harry who covered the costs for her? I hadn’t expected that at all.”
“Is something wrong?” Johnny asked, noticing her change in expression.
Maggie shook her head. “It's nothing. Well then, let’s get to the homework. Once we’re done, I can finally rest. I’ve been so busy today!” *The homework he was referring to was the reflection on the exhibits that their teacher, Nolan, had assigned earlier that morning.*
“Alright,” Maggie replied, “Let me make a quick call.”
She then remembered the car repair costs. Maggie casually dialed Harry’s number. The call was answered almost instantly.
“Hello?” Harry’s voice came through.
“Mr. Becker, it’s Maggie,” she said.
“I know. What’s up?” Harry replied.
Maggie continued, “I’ve picked up the car. I wanted to ask if the repair costs were covered by you? How much is it? I’ll transfer it.”
There was a brief pause before Harry responded, “I’ll send you the account number in a moment.”
“Okay, thank you. I’m sorry to bother you. Also, thank you so much for handling everything today.”
Harry replied indifferently, “No need to thank me.” With that, he hung up first.
Johnny had been listening quietly nearby and asked, “The person who helped you with your car today?” At that moment, Harry had sent over the account number and the invoice photo for the repair.
Maggie glanced at the information while opening her mobile payment app, saying, “Yes, that’s him.”
From the way she spoke with Harry, Johnny could tell that Maggie wasn’t very familiar with him. As for Harry, Johnny was well acquainted with him and knew that although Maggie and Harry knew each other, they weren’t close.
Based on his understanding, Maggie and Harry had almost no personal connection. So, even though she had addressed him as “Mr. Becker,” Johnny didn’t immediately think of Harry Becker when hearing her speak.
Maggie transferred the exact amount to Harry and then sent a message of thanks before officially starting the homework that Nolan had assigned earlier that morning.
