Maggie didn’t bother with them and immediately turned toward the restroom.

By the time she came back, Franklin and Julia were no longer around.

She resumed her work.

Around 11 AM, after completing the system maintenance, she and the Cole team left Xundu and returned

to Cole.

At lunch, Maggie told her grandmother about Old Madam Wilson’s fall.

Her grandmother was shocked.

She said, “Come with me to the hospital to see her tonight.”

No matter what the relationship between Maggie and Franklin was, Old Madam Wilson had helped the Miller family a lot when they were in their most difficult time.

If it weren’t for Old Madam Wilson’s help back then, there would be no Miller family today.

This kindness was something her grandmother would never forget.

Maggie agreed, “Okay.”

In the afternoon, Maggie finished work early and went to the Miller family home for a meal. Then, she picked up her grandmother and they headed to the orthopedic hospital.

Maggie wasn’t surprised to see Isabella. She reached out to gently pat her head. “You came after school, didn’t you?”

“Yes!” Isabella smiled brightly when she saw her, and then called out to Old Madam Wilson, “Great–grandmother.”

Old Madam Miller responded softly, but before she could speak further, Franklin came out of the ward.

Upon seeing them, he nodded in greeting.

Old Madam Miller’s expression was cold, but she didn’t say anything.

Maggie merely glanced at him before shifting her gaze elsewhere.

Noticing that Isabella seemed like she wanted to talk to her, she said, “Mom and your great–grandmother will go inside to see your great–grandmother now.”

“Okay…” Isabella reluctantly held back her desire to speak, reaching out to take Maggie’s hand as they went into the ward together.

Franklin took the flowers and fruit basket that Maggie and Old Madam Miller had brought, and followed them back into the ward.

When Old Madam Wilson saw Maggie and Old Madam Miller arrive, she smiled with some surprise. “What brings you here?”

Old Madam Miller, seeing how hard it was for her to sit up due to her injury, quickly stopped her. “How could you not tell us about such a big thing?”

At this point, Old Madam Wilson’s smile faded slightly as she glanced at Franklin, who was personally pouring water for Maggie and Old Madam Miller, and said, “I really have no face to see you all…”

Maggie and Old Madam Miller took the water Franklin handed to them.

Old Madam Miller then replied, “This is something between them, how can it be your fault?”

“But I-”

Noticing that Isabella was still there, Old Madam Wilson didn’t continue her sentence.

Old Madam Miller gently patted her hand. “I know.”

After a brief exchange of pleasantries, Old Madam Wilson turned her attention back to Maggie.

Since the last time Isabella participated in a school event, she hadn’t seen Maggie. So now, she was sticking close to Maggie, pressing her body into her legs, trying to climb up onto her lap.

Maggie had no choice but to put down her cup and lift Isabella onto her lap.

Seeing Old Madam Miller glancing at her, Isabella happily called out, “Grandma.”

“Hey,” Old Madam Wilson smiled.

With Isabella around, they couldn’t really discuss the matter between Maggie and Franklin in detail.

So Old Madam Miller and Maggie mostly talked about Old Madam Wilson’s current condition.

Old Madam Wilson explained in detail that her surgery was scheduled for tomorrow. Old Madam Miller said, “Then I’ll come to accompany you tomorrow.”

“That’s a trouble, my old friend.”

Having Old Madam Miller visit her and chat would make her feel better.

After a while, Old Madam Wilson seemed to remember something and said, “You haven’t eaten, have you? Franklin, please arrange for-”

“No need.” Old Madam Miller interrupted, “Mag and I ate before coming.”

She then coldly told Franklin, “If you and Isabella haven’t eaten, you should go ahead and eat.”

It had been a long time since Isabella had had a meal with Maggie. Hearing this, she hugged Maggie’s neck and said, “Mom, I really miss you. Come eat with us.”

Thinking back to what she saw last night, and hearing Isabella say she missed her, Maggie lowered her eyes and smiled faintly before gently refusing, “Mom’s tired after working all day and doesn’t want to walk around. You two go eat.”

Hearing this, Isabella knew she couldn’t ask any more. But she still snuggled into Maggie’s embrace, unwilling to leave her side.
