---- Chapter 468 Maggie thought the same. If both sides had no major disputes, even a contested divorce wouldn't take long to finalize. But she would soon have to travel to the base, with her departure and return dates uncertain. If she filed for divorce as the plaintiff and couldn't attend the hearing, the case would be dismissed. In that situation, an agreement-based divorce still seemed more practical. At least with a mutual agreement, once the cooling-off period ended, she and Franklin could choose a time to go to the Civil Center that fit their schedules.
It might actually make things smoother. She knew very well that if Franklin ever had time, he'd contact her right away to get it done. ---- That was why yesterday, when she didn't hear from him, she didn't bother reaching out. If he was too busy, there was no point chasing after him every day. But now- As she looked at Franklin across the room, Maggie's brows furrowed slightly. If she filed for divorce, Franklin, as the defendant, could choose not to appear in court. Letting him be the plaintiff was also possible, but that came with its own risks.

Johnny, who knew she'd been considering filing, could see her hesitation. "You haven't made up your mind yet?" he asked. Maggie shook her head. Johnny understood her concerns all too well. ---- Franklin had always favored Julia and the Browns. If Maggie couldn't attend the hearing, who was to say Franklin wouldn't change the terms of their agreement at the last minute? If he did, she'd have no way to defend herself, and she'd end up at a disadvantage. Maggie didn't want anything from Franklin, not really.
In their drafted agreement, she had already given up custody of Isabella, and she hadn't demanded a share of his assets. Still, if she refused what was rightfully hers, it would only end up benefiting the Brown and Green families, and that, she couldn't quite stomach. Franklin's offer had been generous, yes, but neither Maggie nor Johnny wanted to see it fall into the hands of people who had done nothing to earn it. Johnny sighed and patted her shoulder lightly. ---- Maggie's gaze drifted back toward Franklin. She didn't speak.
Maybe sensing her stare, Franklin looked up, his eyes meeting hers. When he noticed she was still watching, he smiled faintly, as if to ask whether she had something to say. Maggie's expression didn't change. She looked away, her face calm again. Franklin's smile lingered for a moment before he, too, turned back to the meeting. The discussion went on. Even though the meeting had little to do with him, Franklin stayed until the very end. When it finally adjourned, he rose and said courteously, "The project's progressing well. I'm confident about our upcoming collaboration.
Thank you both for your hard work." ---- Johnny forced a polite smile, though he clearly wasn't in the mood. "Mr. Wilson, you're too kind." Franklin said nothing more. He glanced at Maggie once before leaving the room. As his figure disappeared down the hall, Johnny frowned. "Something must be going on inside Wilson Corp. Otherwise, why show up in person for a meeting like this?" He might have complained earlier that Franklin didn't seem busy, but he knew better, if Franklin had truly been free, he would've already arranged the divorce. His presence here had to mean something.
Maggie had thought the same thing. "I don't know," she said quietly. "I haven't heard anything unusual from the others." Johnny frowned deeper, lowering his voice. "Keep an eye out, then. If something's happening, we should be ready." ---- Maggie nodded, setting her thoughts back on work. "Got it"
