---- Chapter 405 Glen was also on the Dallas test team. Julia hadn't expected to see him; she glanced over. Glen hadn't expected her and Franklin either. Sensing her look, he turned away, expression cool. Her smile deepened a notch. She wasn't actually flying to Dallas with Franklin-she had a separate business trip to another city. "It's almost time," she told Franklin. "I'll head out first." "T'll walk you over," Franklin said. "No need. It's only a few steps. You've got work-focus on that.
I'll call after I and." "Okay." People from Wilson Group and Cole muttered under their breath about how good Franklin and Julia's relationship ---- seemed. Johnny gave a derisive snort. Maggie watched in silence, face unreadable. Julia greeted a few Wilson Group staffers, then left-without sparing so much as a glance for Maggie or Johnny. On the plane, Maggie's seat was across the aisle from Franklin's. Johnny needed to discuss something with Mr. Claremont from Wilson Group. Seeing how close the seats were, he asked, "You okay with this?" "It's fine," Maggie said. Glen sat beside Maggie.

After takeoff he chatted with her in a low voice, and whenever he leaned in, Franklin inevitably came into view. Franklin scrolled on his phone the entire flight. From takeoff to landing he and Maggie never exchanged a word. When he occasionally noticed Maggie and Glen talking quietly, he glanced over once, then looked away. They hit the ground running that afternoon. The schedule ---- was tight and they'd arrived late, so by the time they wrapped for the day it was already past eight. Back at the hotel, Maggie kept working.
Near eleven she finally straightened out a few sticking points and went to shower. She'd barely finished when the doorbell rang. She checked the screen. Seeing who it was, her hand paused mid-towel. After a beat of hesitation, she opened. the door. "What is it?" Her hair wasn't dry yet; damp strands clung to her pale, slim neck, beads of water slipping beneath the collar of her sleep shirt. Franklin took one look, then met her eyes. "Isabella's call." He held out his phone. Maggie accepted it and answered on speaker in the doorway. "Isabella?" "Mom!
I'm buying you a present, but I don't know what ---- you like, and I couldn't reach you..." Isabella chattered on. Once Maggie got the gist, she said, "I know. I've been busy today and my phone might've died-I didn't see your calls. I'll check it in a minute and text you what I pick, okay?" "Okay!" Isabella hung up soon after. Maggie handed the phone back. Franklin nodded. "Good night." He turned to leave-only to almost collide with Glen coming down the corridor toward Maggie's room. Glen froze for a second at the sight of them together.
