Chapter 523: Walking down the street, she took a sip. The bitterness, tempered by the cold ice, momentarily eased her gloom. What was happening to her? Last night, she had seen Greyson and Madilyn sleeping naked together. She hadn't felt angry at all. But seeing Milton and Sigrid having lunch together made her furious. She had done her best to keep her composure and hide any signs of abnormality in front of them. It wasn't a big deal to see Greyson and Madilyn together. She was numb to them being a pair. But her different reaction toward Milton shocked her. What was wrong with her?

Milton affected her easily, even over something so small. Candice took another sip of the bitter coffee, hoping to snap herself out of it. Milton left the restaurant with urgency. He tried to find Candice, but the street was crowded and chaotic. Couples passed by him one after another, chatting and laughing. Girls occasionally gawked at him in awe, letting out loud squeals of astonishment. He searched for Candice but couldn't find her. Frustrated, he scowled and clenched the document in his hand. Candice hadn't shown any emotion throughout the meal. Her apathy was driving him crazy.

He retrieved his phone and called the secretaries' station, asking, "Has Candice returned?" Blair sounded surprised. "Didn't she come to you, Mr. Lopez, to sign that document? You mean you didn't see her?" "I want to know if she's in my office right now!" Milton, annoyed, scratched his forehead. "I'm sorry, Mr. Lopez, but she hasn't shown up here. Should I try to contact her for you?" Milton abruptly hung up before Blair could finish. . He was impatient. It seemed Candice had either returned to the law firm or gone elsewhere to handle things.

On the busy shopping street, he wandered aimlessly. A sad yet beautiful song played from a nearby store. "I am jealous because I love him; I am angry because I care about him; I am in a daze because I miss him; I am sad because I don't want to lose him..." The lyrics echoed clearly. Milton listened, growing more incensed. He hadn't seen any of those emotions on Candice's face. Her calm demeanor chilled him. Damn! He had made a mistake taking Raul's advice! He was frustrated because it hadn't worked. He hurried back and stopped by a café on the way. Somehow, he walked in.
