Chapter 23: Candice frowned. Madilyn must be taking photos of her dining with two men to show Greyson later. What an annoying woman. Candice thought about how to deal with Madilyn. Suddenly, her eyes landed on the handsome Milton, and she came up with a great idea. Gently tapping her fingers on the table, she said to him, "Mr. Lopez, someone is secretly taking photos of you right now." Then she pointed toward Madilyn. She knew very well that Milton hated it when women showed interest in him-especially when they took photos without his permission.
As Candice anticipated, Milton's face darkened after glancing in the direction she pointed. He immediately rose from his seat and walked straight toward Madilyn. Through her phone screen, Madilyn saw the man whose photos she was secretly taking approaching her. She gasped. He was even more handsome up close-his features like a masterfully chiseled work of art. She raised her head to look at him, her heart racing. Was he coming over to talk to her? Although she had Greyson now, she still felt flattered that a good-looking, obviously affluent young man was taking the initiative to accost her.

Milton stopped in front of Madilyn. Madilyn swallowed, shifted her position, and frantically smoothed down her hair and straightened her clothes. Then she put on a sweet smile. Milton stretched out his hand and ordered, "Give me your phone." Madilyn was stunned but soon blushed. Was he asking for her phone number? She was so excited that she had to bite down a giddy squeal. The man looked breathtaking, and everything about him screamed wealth. She cast a defiant look at Candice. |@te$t ¢#@pter$ |n g@!novel$.c0m Then she lowered her head slightly and shyly handed her phone to Milton.
Watching from a distance, Candice casually leaned on the couch and sipped her orange juice through a straw. She was trying her best not to burst out laughing. She couldn't wait to see the show. "He's making a fuss again, geez," Raul sighed, rubbing his temple. Milton took Madilyn's phone and saw the secret photos she had taken of him and Candy. He pressed his lips into a thin line. Biting her lip, Madilyn batted her eyelashes. "You can add me as a friend here..." Before she could finish, Milton waved his hand and tossed the phone off the terrace.
Watching her phone fly through the air, Madilyn gasped sharply. She hadn't expected the handsome stranger to do that. They were on the top floor of a building. Her phone surely wouldn't survive the fall. Then Milton wrote a check and threw it at Madilyn. "Buy yourself a new phone and mind your own business." He warned, "Next time I catch you taking photos of me, you'll lose more than just your phone." With that, he turned on his heel and walked away without looking back. Dumbfounded, Madilyn stood frozen, humiliated. The man had embarrassed her in front of so many people.
She had thought he was coming over to ask her out, but instead, he was after her phone and the photos she had taken. The handsome man returned to his seat opposite Candice. Madilyn was so angry that she stamped her feet and glared at Candice. Candice must have told him that Madilyn was secretly taking photos of them. If only she could march over, sink her claws into Candice, and tear her to pieces. The people around began eyeing Madilyn and whispering. They must think she was pathetic. Mortified and furious, Madilyn hurriedly left. Amusement crinkled the corners of Candice's eyes.
She knew Milton would handle the situation swiftly. But, if she were honest, she hadn't expected him to ask for Madilyn's phone just to toss it off the side of the building. Still, watching Madilyn get humiliated felt oddly satisfying. However, Milton writing Madilyn a check for a new phone made Candice feel a bit uncomfortable. She knew all too well how it felt to be slapped with money. Thinking of that man on her wedding night, her mood curdled like spoiled milk. . . .
