Chapter 520: She hadn't intimidated Candice yesterday, but she was certain she could succeed today. "You must be exhausted. You didn't even take a break for lunch and came all this way just to sign a document," Sigrid said, casting Milton a coquettish glance. "It's your fault, Milton. You could have just sent the document through your secretary. Why make her come here? It's sweltering outside. Look at the sweat on her forehead." Sigrid handed Candice a wet tissue. "Here, wipe your sweat. It's a bit hot today." Without hesitation, Candice took the tissue and wiped her forehead and temples.
She replied, "Mr. Lopez is our law firm's most esteemed client. It's my responsibility to work hard for him." Milton's expression shifted abruptly when he heard her words. Candice had addressed him as Mr. Lopez, and the sound grated on him deeply. He pulled a document from his side. The seal on it indicated it was confidential. He handed it to Candice, saying, "This is a confidential agreement about a secret bank account. The account will be established this afternoon, and you need to sign it." Milton watched Candice's face closely, but she remained expressionless.

There were no visible signs of disturbance or jealousy, which made him frown in confusion. Candice took the document, opened it, and quickly skimmed through it. Although she needed to sign it urgently, she could have done so elsewhere. She retrieved a pen from her bag and signed her name in the bottom right corner of each page. After signing, Candice placed the document in the folder and handed it back to Milton. Milton's face remained unreadable. She was meticulous in separating work from private matters. To her, he was merely a client. Raul was indeed spouting nonsense. Why hadn't Milton noticed anything unusual? He vowed never to listen to Raul's advice again. After signing the document, Candice turned to leave. However, Sigrid stopped her, saying, "Don't rush off. Have you had lunch yet?" Candice replied, "Not yet. There are plenty of restaurants nearby. I'll grab something on the way." Milton's face twisted in disapproval, but before he could speak, Sigrid interjected, "You came here for company business. It would be impolite not to offer you lunch. Look at all this food on the table.
Milton and I can't possibly finish it all. Why don't we pack some up for you to take back to the law firm? The food here is delicious, and you wouldn't want to miss out." Candice remained composed despite Sigrid's condescending tone. It was clear Sigrid was playing the hostess, treating Candice like a servant and rewarding her with leftovers. Sigrid was taking every opportunity to put Candice down. Milton silently stirred his tea, his gaze fixed on Candice. . . .
