Chapter 213: Sure enough, there was a restaurant here, but no grand hall. Each of the rooms was extravagantly furnished. Candice had no idea whom Greyson wanted her to meet or why the dinner was arranged at such an exclusive venue. She simply followed the waiter to Room 206. Candice gently knocked on the door and entered when there was no response. Though compact, the room was cozy. She felt the soft carpet under her feet as she stepped inside. Greyson was already there, seated by the window.
When he saw Candice enter, he pointed to the seat beside him and said, "Please, have a seat." Greyson was the only one inside the room. Candice asked, "Where is everyone?" After a brief silence, Greyson tilted his head and replied, "It's just the two of us." Candice blinked in disbelief and asked, "Didn't you say there was an important dinner and that I needed to attend?" Greyson smiled faintly and said, "Isn't it an important dinner because I'm treating you?" Hearing that, Candice was left speechless. Candice's eyebrows furrowed in disbelief.

Did Greyson really ask her to be here just to treat her to dinner? It almost sounded unreal. Without thinking, she started to turn and leave. But before she could move, Greyson grabbed her wrist, urging her to sit down. "Sit," he said coldly. At his feet lay a gift. Last time, he had spoken to Candice in a way that was a bit humiliating. Inside the box was a gorgeous necklace-the latest summer style from DIOR. The bright blue gemstone resembled the ocean and matched her temperament perfectly. Greyson realized he had never given Candice any gifts, not even a wedding ring. He planned to surprise her after dinner with something special to show his regret for his past behavior. "Since there's no one important to meet, and I still have work to do, Mr. Harman, you can have dinner alone," she said, intending to leave.
Greyson held her shoulders firmly and noticed the file bag she carried. With a smile, he asked, "Really? Don't you have something to show me? Why not take it out?" He knew she needed his help. Candice bit her lip but knew she couldn't refuse. Investigating the case was her priority. Her personal feelings toward Greyson had to come second. She took a deep breath and placed the file bag in front of him. . . .
