"What are you hoping to accomplish by saying all this?" Linsey asked, her voice steady even as her world shook. "I'll only believe what I hear from my husband. Your schemes to divide us won't work, Carol."

Rage flashed in Carol's expression as she turned sharply to Alexa, who still lingered by the side, hesitant. "I told you to get the knife! Are you deaf?" Alexa hesitated, fear trembling in her voice. "Carol, using a knife… it could really hurt her-maybe even kill her…"

Unfazed, Carol snapped back, "So what? She's nobody. Why should I care?"
