Chapter 1450: "Who are you?" Linsey demanded, her gaze sharp and suspicious, convinced she had never seen him before. The young man caught her defensive stance and let out a quiet, reassuring laugh. "I'm Philip Lloyd," he replied. "Mr. Collin Riley sent me. I'm one of his assistants, and I'm here to pick you up." "Collin sent you?" Linsey asked, still in doubt. Philip gave a simple nod. "That's right." Once she realized he was who he claimed to be, Linsey allowed herself to relax. Still, a hint of surprise lingered in her voice.
"You got here faster than I expected." Philip smiled, his tone friendly. "I actually arrived a little early, just to be safe. Ms. Brooks, if you'll follow me." "Okay." Without hesitation, Linsey nodded and followed him. A sleek black business van idled by the curb, waiting for Linsey's arrival. Philip stepped forward, pulling the door open. Linsey thanked him before bending down to climb inside. Her movement stopped short when her eyes caught a man in a tailored suit already seated within. That split-second hesitation froze Linsey in place.

He chuckled at her startled reaction and asked, "You don't want me around?" "That's not it," Linsey admitted, still reeling. "I just can't believe you came all the way to Necroessau." The words had barely left her mouth when another thought hit her. "Wait... you didn't come to Necroessau only for me, did you?" Instead, he spoke plainly. "I'm here to handle business at the branch office." "And you-" Linsey's words faded, though her meaning was clear enough. Understanding her unfinished thought, Collin answered, "Once I wrapped up my work, I realized I knew the person in charge. I figured it'd be best if I dealt with it directly." His explanation eased her doubts. She settled into her seat and said with genuine gratitude, "I appreciate you doing this for me." "It's nothing," Collin replied lightly.
"Besides, I want to know the truth about whether Gorman ever had a fiancée who died." The van rolled on, and soon they arrived at their stop. A woman with brown hair greeted them at the entrance. She was the one managing the cemetery. Wearing a sharp suit, she greeted Collin warmly and asked how he had been. Linsey remained a step behind, silent, watching the easy laughter between them stir an unexpected irritation deep inside her. . . .
