Chapter 664
Tiffany could not tell whether she was imagining it, but the man
in front of her did not sound as casual as usual. She could not
explain what felt different.
The question struck the one place in her that was still raw and
fragile. She had no time to think. She reacted on instinct and
shot back coldly, "What does it have to do with you? Are you
addicted to eavesdropping now?"
She did not want Sydney to know too much about her family. But
if one person had to know about this mess, she would rather it
be Sydney. At least, Sydney was the only person in this world
who would never laugh at her.
Jouleston was a big city. Unless someone intended it, lives
rarely crossed.
For more than five years after the breakup, she had vanished
without a trace. Since they met again last year, every encounter
had found her perfectly composed. She smiled when
appropriate and handled herself with ease with him and with
everyone.
Sometimes, Raymond wanted to see her lose control, even if
only once, no matter the reason, preferably because of him.
----
But now, as he sensed this rare crack in her composure, not a
trace of satisfaction rose in him. He wanted to ask if she was
okay.
What came out instead was, "How is it none of my business? We
were together once."

“Since you know that was in the past, then you can let go,"
Tiffany said, lowering her gaze to the hand gripping her wrist.
Her makeup was as immaculate as ever. Her beautiful eyes
stayed cool and distant as they fixed on him.
All Raymond could smell was the faint trace of her perfume. It
was elegant and feminine, polished without being sweet. Yet it
felt remote to him, nothing like before.
Over the years, during sleepless nights, he often remembered
the gardenia scent he used to catch when he buried his face in
the curve of her neck.
He once asked what perfume she wore. She answered plainly
and asked how a broke student was supposed to afford
perfume.
A year after they broke up, Raymond grew stubborn and bought
bottle after bottle of women's perfume. He never found that
scent again.
----
Something crossed his mind. Instead of letting go, his grip
tightened. His voice turned unreadable. "I'm not letting go.”
His words were brief and blunt. They stood locked in place,
looking exactly like a couple in the middle of a fight.
Tiffany's patience began to wear thin. "So what do you want? Do
| have to spell out how badly the Voss family treated me before
it finally soothes your wounded pride over getting dumped?"
The night before, she had thought Stanley might die. She had
rushed over without finishing work and stayed at the hospital
until now. She had not slept all night
And now this unreasonable man had blocked her here.
She was exhausted. Of course her temper flared, and her words
came out sharper than usual.
Raymond was not angry at all. If anything, he was pleased. It
was the first time she had brought up their past on her own.
He lifted a brow slightly. His lips parted, ready to answer.
Then a figure hurried out of the elevator. "Tiff, are you okay?"
Glen looked travel-worn, as if he had just rushed back from out
of town. He barely spared Raymond a glance before looking
straight at Tiffany. "How is your father? The second | heard, |

came back. Is there anything I can help with?"
Raymond frowned.
Tiffany seized the chance to pull her wrist free. She did not ask
where Glen got the news. "I'm fine. He's fine too. Sydney already
arranged everything, so you don't need to worry."
“The he" naturally referred to Stanley.
