Chapter 11 I drain the last of my bourbon, swilling it around in my mouth to savor the sting. Haven's scream fills my bedroom...and fuck. That sound is every bit as delicious and harrowing as I'd imagined. My eyes slide shut as I walk blindly back to my chair at the foot of the bed, falling into it with a sigh. Pouring another measure of bourbon into my glass, bringing it to my lips. I'm already feeling the liquor, the coke at its peak. What a fucking night to be alive. Kai pulls his hands away from Haven's throat, staring at them as if wondering what the fuck just happened.

It's not the first time he's hurt her, so what's going on in that tortured mind of his? Or is it his red knuckles giving him so much grief? It's obvious he got in a fight with someone, or punched a wall a few times. Either seems plausible from where I'm sitting. Haven twists her body away from him, coughing, legs kicking as she tries to escape. And that chain of hers just keeps clinking like a metal rattlesnake. Kai looks over at me almost sheepishly, head still bowed, and then slowly strips out of his shirt. Eyes fixed on me.

I raise my glass, smiling luridly at him over the brim, encouraging him with hooded eyes and a slow wink. That's it. Put on a show for me, boy. He twists my t-shirt into a rope, flicking hair out of his eyes with a snap of his neck. His chest rises and falls with sharp, eager breaths. Then he's forcing that fabric between Haven's lips, silencing her. If I could speak without shattering the illusion, I'd have told him to let her scream. But he's in control. For now. I'm interested to see how he performs for me. Let him be cruel. Let him be brutal.

But most of all, let him be as insatiable as I am. Haven struggles when he drags her body back to the middle of the bed, but he's strong enough to push her down. I can't tell if she's crying or just flustered, her nostrils flaring, her teeth white as she bites down on the corded fabric in her mouth.

She could have spat it out by now. Maybe she knows she'll need it, when the real pain comes. Her scream could only mean she knows Kai is truly here, that she didn't dream him up. But that doesn't mean our game has to end. Makes it that much more fun. I slide my hands up her legs, my fingers dimpling her flesh when I grab her thighs and shove them apart.
