[Jasmine's POV] September fifteenth arrives perfect. Autumn day with golden light filtering through trees, temperature just cool enough for long sleeves, warm enough that no one's uncomfortable. The garden venue looks like something from a dream-white chairs arranged in neat rows, arbor covered in flowers, string lights waiting for evening glow. Twenty guests maximum, each one carefully chosen. I stand in the bridal suite, looking at myself in the mirror. Simple white dress hugs in all the right places, hair loosely curled over one shoulder, minimal makeup that lets me look like myself.
I look... happy. For the first time in years, genuinely, uncomplicated happy. Nora's beside me, making final adjustments. "You ready for this?" "More than I've ever been ready for anything." The certainty in my voice surprises even me. "No doubts?" She meets my eyes in the mirror. "None. Not about him. Not about this." I turn to face her. "Is that crazy? Six months ago I was still technically polyamorous." "Six months ago you were miserable." Her correction is gentle but firm. "Now you're happy. That's not crazy. That's growth." She hugs me carefully, mindful of the dress. "Good.
Because that man out there would die for you." "I know." My throat tightens. "That's why I'm marrying him." Music starts-processional beginning. The girls go first in matching purple dresses, Chloe serious about her flower-girl duties, Zoe already waving at guests. Then Nora, walking with the measured grace of someone who's done this before. Then it's my turn. Leo appears at my elbow, offering his arm. "Proud of you, sis." "For what?" I take his arm, grateful for the support. "For choosing your own happiness. Took you long enough." His smile is warm, teasing.
I laugh through tears already threatening. "Better late than never." We step into the garden, and everyone stands. But I only see Liam at the altar-tears already streaming down his face, hands clasped in front of him like he's holding himself together by force of will. The walk down the aisle feels eternal and instantaneous. Leo squeezes my hand once, passes me to Liam, steps back. Then it's just us. Standing under the arbor, facing each other, about to promise forever. The officiant welcomes everyone, talks about love and commitment and choosing your partner daily. But I'm not listening.
I'm watching Liam cry openly, unashamed, and feeling my own tears match his. "Liam, your vows," the officiant prompts. He takes my hands, swallows hard. "Jasmine, I've loved you from the moment I met you. I've waited five years to stand here and call you mine-just mine." His voice breaks on the last word, but he continues. "I promise to choose you every day. To be present. To love you simply and completely. To be the partner you deserve, the father our girls need, and the man you can count on. Always." The 'always' comes out as a sob.
He's crying so hard he can barely get the words out, but every syllable lands with the weight of truth. My turn. I squeeze his hands, find my voice through the emotion choking me. "Liam, I've spent years trying to be everything to everyone. With you, I finally learned I just need to be me." The words come steadier now. "You've shown me that love doesn't have to be complicated to be profound. That showing up is the greatest romance. That simple is sacred." I pause, make sure he's looking at me. "I choose you. Today, tomorrow, forever. Just you. Only you.

Always." The officiant pronounces us married, but Liam's already moving. He cups my face, kisses me-soft at first, then deeper, claiming. The kind of kiss that says mine, finally, completely. The girls cheer from the front row. Chloe throws flower petals prematurely, hitting several guests. Zoe claps so hard her hands must hurt. We walk back down the aisle as family. Not complicated, not unconventional despite appearances. Just family. Husband and wife. Simple as that. Reception happens under string lights as the sun sets. Dinner at long tables, wine flowing, conversation easy and warm.
Everyone who matters is here-Leo and Maya, Nora, Asher and Elena, Finn and Sienna, a handful of close friends who've witnessed our journey. First dance is to a song I wrote. Unpublished, just for us, about finding home in unexpected places. Liam holds me close, swaying to lyrics about coming back to yourself while falling into someone else. "Mrs. Blackwood," he murmurs against my temple. "I like the sound of that." I do. Took my time deciding, but ultimately his name felt right. "Get used to it." His grin is pure joy. "You're stuck with it now." "Happily stuck." Speeches follow dinner.
Leo makes us cry with stories about protective big brothers and finally approving of someone. Nora makes us laugh with tales of my dating disasters and how she knew Liam was different from day one. Then Asher surprises everyone by standing. I tense-uncertain what he'll say, whether this will be awkward or painful or both. "To my brother and my..." He pauses, finds the right words. "To Jasmine. You both deserve this happiness. Watching you find each other has been painful and beautiful. But mostly beautiful." He raises his glass higher.
"Here's to simple love and complicated families and making it all work anyway." Everyone drinks to that. Elena squeezes his hand, proud. I mouth 'thank you' across the table. Finn doesn't speak. Stays quiet through the toasts, nursing his wine, Sienna's hand in his. But later, after dinner and dancing and celebration, he finds me at the dessert table. "You look happy." His voice is careful, controlled. "I am." No hesitation. "Good." He means it-I can see it in his eyes. "That's all I ever wanted for you." We hug-final goodbye to what we were.
Not the weekend grief-hug from his apartment, but something cleaner. Resolution instead of mourning. "Thank you for being here," I whisper against his shoulder. "Wouldn't miss it." He pulls back, manages a real smile. "Even if it hurts." "I'm sorry it hurts." "Don't be. This is right. I can see that." He glances at Liam across the garden, laughing with Leo. "He's good for you." "Yeah. He is." "Be happy, Jazz." One last squeeze of my hand. "Just... be happy." "I am. I will be." I squeeze back. "And you too. With Sienna. Be happy." "Working on it." He steps away, back to Sienna's side.
Evolution complete-from lovers to co-parents to friendly exes attending each other's weddings. Hello to what we'll be moving forward. Past lovers, present co-parents, future friends. The party continues into evening. Dancing, laughter, celebration that feels both monumental and simple. At one point, I look around at everyone here-Asher holding Elena's hand, her pregnant belly just starting to show. Finn with his arm around Sienna, looking lighter than he did last weekend. Leo and Maya debating when to start their family.
Nora holding court with wedding guests, telling stories that make everyone laugh. And Liam. Always Liam. Watching me with that expression that says I'm his entire world. The girls crash around nine, sugar-crashed and overtired. We tuck them into the venue's side room, both passed out in their purple dresses on a couch. "Our daughters," Liam says, watching them sleep. "Our daughters," I agree. Not his, not biologically Finn's and Asher's. Just ours. The party winds down by eleven. Guests filter out with hugs and congratulations and promises to visit soon.
Asher and Elena leave, Finn and Sienna close behind. Leo and Maya head to their hotel. Finally, it's just us. Me, Liam, and our sleeping daughters. The venue staff cleaning up around us, string lights glowing in the dark. "We did it," Liam says. "We got married." I lean into him, exhausted and happy. "We promised forever." He kisses the top of my head. "And I meant every word." "So did I." I look up at him. "Every single word." "Mrs. Blackwood." He tests it again, grinning. "Mr. Blackwood." I like how it sounds. "My husband." "Your husband." His smile could power cities.
"Finally." We wake the girls gently, carry them to the car, drive home through quiet streets. They don't fully wake, just mumble sleepily as we tuck them into their beds. Then it's just us. In our house. Married. "First night as your wife," I observe, collapsing onto our bed still in my wedding dress. "Should be romantic. Champagne, rose petals, all that." Liam sits beside me, loosening his tie. "Instead we're exhausted and I have cake in my hair." I laugh, giddy with happiness and fatigue. "Perfect." He kisses me anyway-soft, sweet, promise of later when we're not dead on our feet.
"Absolutely perfect." I fall asleep still in my dress, Liam beside me, ring on my finger catching moonlight through the window. Mrs. Blackwood. His wife. Permanently, legally, completely his. Virgin Dot Com
